Hi getting ready to pick up my 2000 210 horizon but have a few questions. First is it a decent boat? it has a 5.7 ltr volvo the one thong i don't like about it and want to change is the VDO dash, I love the look of gauges i have found out that you can buy a replacement dash and is now only avalible in rosewood which i could live with or paint it to match. But here in Canada they want $1200 for one and i seen you guys were buying them for around $500 if anyone could steer me to place I could order one for around that price Thanks

As long as the gauges work I'd leave it be for now, there have been problems with the VDO cluster but some do work OK.
What I'd do first, since the boat is 11 years old, is have a good marine mechanic go through it and make sure there are no developing problems (like water in the bellows, or water in the outdrive oil, clogging and corrosion in the manifolds/risers) and correct those first. A lot of times on used boats the maintenance has not been done, or done regularly enough to make it reliable. An I/O boat is a high maintenance machine so get used to having it done regularly (winterizing, tune ups, drive service) and you will have few problems.....

I've been around a lot of bowriders.... four winns is def the best in my books. Next spring I'm going to upgrade to a 24ft cruiser class. Can't wait!

I have almost no maintenance issues, just the normal stuff. Oil changes, tune ups, filters. Treat it good, and it will treat you good. Beat up on it, and it will take it's bashing out on your credit card.

LMAO!!! That is exactly why I am doing all the service on my 180 hour engine to make sure it was done, not taking the dealerships word for it.

If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself!

Have seen several people post that you can no longer find the replacement dashes. So if you have a lead on one you might want to act quickly before it gone. Chances are it is already to late.

The woodgrain one is still around and can be bought at a dealer but i need to find a US dealer near Port Huron or somewhere in the US and have it shipped to Port Huron And i do all my work myself on my boats, street bikes, and on my snowmobile i don't trust that dealers do the job they say they do

Just found out the replacement even the wood grain is not available if you have the longer wrap around type dash. The other shorter and kind of oval is still available. Unfortunately I have the wrap around one and cant replace it only option is to send in and no guarantee something else wont fail when it returns, to the tune of $750.

hmmm I don't like the sounds of that. But if i got real real creative and made a mold of the dash area and then a fiberglass panel that would fit. then go to all the trouble of figuring out which wire was what for each gauge, and bought new gauges and put in.. does anyone think this could work???

The actual instrument cluster is just screwed or clipped onto the woodgrain plastic surround; all you need is a shaped panel that can replace it, that you can mount individual gauges to ( Aluminium, coloured perspex or polycarbonate, stainless steel plywood etc). there are some excellent self adhesive foils available in a number of finishes that you could use to finish off the panel to your taste ( e.g. from 3M)

re the wire colours etc, I found a manual for the 2000 cluster online a few years ago. If you can't find it, send me your E-mail address ; I'll send you a copy by E-mail.

I wouldn't waste time and money trying to get an OE one, I'd do as Graham mentioned, replace the dash with a nice panel that you can put any individual gauges in that you like. I have the OE Medallion gauges in my old 88 and after 24 years they all still work! Go with standard sizes to replacement down the road if needed is easy....

thats exactally what I did in my 01 190. It doesnt look as good as factory, but the whole project start to finish cost me less than 225 bucks. And that included all new gauges. I can dig up some pictures if you want me to
