How much was the nu-teak for just cockpit area?
Still skiddish re getting too hot for barefeet.
Likely going with new carpet, anybody tried the Corinthian brand?
Jinzi, did not understand you post re cost. What price did u get for cockpit area?

The New-Teak for the swim platform ran about 3K installed and the cockpit is running around 5900 installed. So just under 10K for both. Crazy money, but I also got the boat for a incredible deal and still saving money in the long run with everything I am doing to it.

The cost for our local shop to do the 3 pieces in the cockpit was around $650.00 for their best carpet. The price quoted for the FW replacement pieces was $540 plus shipping. The FW carpet uses the thin black rubber backing. Also checked out marine carpet.com and they were in between the two other prices.

We feel keeping our business with a local shop was a better choice. Hope that helps clarify things.

Hate to loose the flexi-teak on the swim platform but feel its necessary.

Wow nuteak out of my price range!

Jnizi, thx for response
Thinking of staying local too. But what backing did they use? I may go lowere quality as we have 3 kids and a dog! Whatever we buy will prob only last 3-4 seasons.
Thx again
Eric

The backing we have chosen allows water to pass through and dry quickly. It appears to go by numerous names (AquaLok, Nu Wave) but it allows for water to drain and this stuff will not stick to gelcoat like the black rubber padding. Are kids are grown and our dog is afraid of water so we are hoping this will last us a while.

I thought your Menard's carpet was what you liked ?????

Carpet-- Head to Menards/Lowe's/Home Depot. Buy some indoor/outdoor carpet, and trace your existing cockpit carpet over it. Cut it out, and get binding installed. I have $140 total in it, and we like it better than the factory carpet. Plus no rubber backing to fall apart again.

About to pull the trigger on Corinthian brand carpet. It has the "aqua-Lok" backing that you guys are mentioning.

http://www.corinthian-marine-carpet.com/

One question: Did you have to install snaps? Or did it lay/stay alright without? Dont really feel like putting snaps in, but can if we need to (We own the industrial snap install tool).

No snaps are on my 268, so you should be fine.

Capn- The Menards stuff was an upgrade to the factory junk, but no match for the NuWave backing.

I didn't think the factory stuff was junk, mine was original on our 268, and was still in there when we traded it in 3 years ago.
It only had a couple of small spots that the backing was coming off, otherwise it looked good for being in the boat for 10 years.
Our Monterey came from the factory with NUWave backing carpet, still looks new after 7 years. It is nice backing.
You all must be rough on carpets.

We are rough on our carpet but we also use the heck out of our boat. Probably have 15-200 running hours per 5 month season. As well as spend almost every weekend. 3 kids.....who have many friends..1 dog...many parties..many guests.

It's our way of getting our kids disconnected from their Xbox and get out into nature!

Now we have some people in our marina that take their boat out twice a season, no kids, no pets, no parties, no guests... yeah their boat looks immaculate.

Who's getting the better worth for their money? I think we are. Dont mind spending $500 on carpet evey 5 years, thats $100/yr. Thats less than it cost for 1/4 tank of gas!

Hi,

We did our entire cockpit area last winter. Made paper templates from the old carpet and shipped them to the US to Custom Marine Carpets. Got a quote over e-mail, ordered the carpet and they landed on my door 3 weeks later.

The have the proper grey colour molded rubber backing for water drainage and they lie flat and are very flexible (no snaps required on our 328 Vista)

Cost was $700 CAD, because of the shipping and taxes and duty into Canada. Well worth it.

I recently installed Marine Tuft carpet with a teak look and I'm very pleased with the results. http://www.marinetuftusa.com/

I just ordered a replacement for my original carpet.

The black backing has just disintegrated and leaves a mess in the cockpit. I don't believe the Florida sun helped. I brought the old carpet into Canvas designers (the same people on ShipShape TV) and they did the CAD work and passed it on to Corinthian carpet. It should be in this week.

What price did they give you for the cockpit area (3 pieces)?
