Mine pulls ok, but Im usually pretty loaded down. I just got back from a trip from Cincinnati to Lake Norman NC (8hr) and the truck did ok as it always does. A few hills I think I was struggling to keep 55 but I only do a few longs trips a year and cannot justify getting a bigger truck. Most of my trips are less than 5 miles each way to the river. How much does your boat weigh? Have you upgraded your rear leafs yet? I installed a 7 leaf Deaver OME leaf pack to stop myself from bottoming out as I missed the TSB under warranty for the weak factory leafs.
Boat and trailer which I always keep full of fuel and water, weigh in the area of 6000 to 6400 lbs. as far as my leafs are original(only 28000 miles on her so far) but I do have a set of A/M heavy duty springs ready to go if they crack of start to sag. I set the boat up with the weight on the tongue to be just heavy enough that 2 tough guys could pick it up.
we only tow 6 miles each way to the ramp. but I did tow it home for 1 hour on the highway with no problems. It helps that its a 5 speed auto so it has a real low 1st gear.
but if we upgrade to a bigger boat some day I will get a Tundra, (they kick ass for pulling )if I am to trailer it, but even if it was in a slip I would tow it to my driveway for storage
