The original Tappan microwave in my Vista 278 was faulty. Finding a replacement that would fit through the aperture in the cabinet was difficult particularly when we looked for a reasonably priced model in the local appliance stores. Holding a router or jigsaw at head height while leaning over a countertop is not much fun if a fine finish in the cherry laminate is required. The solution was to make the hole bigger in a fairly neat fashion and then apply a trim piece. A local welder made the trim from 25mm x 25 mm x 3mm aluminium angle. He ground and polished out the welds on the face. We are very happy with the result. Not that we really need a microwave on the boat but Four Winn's owners do sleep more soundly if there's nothing that requires repair or upgrading.
