A lot of you wanted to see some pics from our trip to NYC - we towed down from Toronto, spent three days on the boat berthed at Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey just across from Battery Park, and next to Liberty State Park. One afternoon we boated out and around Manhatten Island (very cool...), then headed north up the Hudson (took 2 days), then connected with the Erie Canal system - the Erie took 6 days, and it exits into the Niagara River at Tonawanda (north of Buffalo)
Here's the spectacular view from our berth in the marina:

And again at night....

A drive-by of "The Lady"

Some shots of the Island:

Any Yankee fans out there?

The Hudson River Valley is very scenic:

Stand up and salute, gentlemen (West Point...):

Start of the Erie at Waterford, NY:

The first two-thirds of the Erie system is mainly rivers (Mohawk and Seneca), and speed limits are 30-45 mph, so its a fabulous run in a 21-footer:

Lots of these (34 locks in total):

In the westerly third portion, there are fewer locks but about 15 lift-bridges like this:

And most of the trip in the westerly section is in a man-made "ditch", where the speed limit is restricted to 10 mph - not quite as scenic, and a little plodding...

At the end of our trip we had to cross the Niagara River back into Canada - here we are at the edge of the restricted zone just about a mile above Niagara Falls - you can see this mist from the falls from here - a little creepy!!

Finally, after pulling out and another 3 hour tow, back at the cottage in Victoria Harbour on Georgian Bay to put our feet up...

Now to figure out where to go next year??
