I'm sure we are all always looking to squeeze a bit more useable space in our cabins. The Admiral was looking for a bit more counter space in the gallery. She does not like to use the stair area during cooking or cleaning because of the cushion so I put this together.

Found latching hinged shelf supports for $20.00 each and a black laminated shelf at the local improvement store.

This gives her extra flat space approximately 13" x 12" and does not interfere with using the stair when necessary or use of the closet door.

Just thought I would share.

Our 2000 268 Vista had a similar "extended countertop" over the stairs. We used it quite a bit. It came from the factory with it.

Looked at a custom piece of granite and was floored by the price. Figured we would try this and if the laminate does not hold up we can always replace that.

Good timing. My admiral was just saying how she misses the little flip out shelf we had on the 268. Which improvement store sold the supports?

Looks good! It's amazing how much a little extra counter space helps when preparing a meal down there!
