And that my freinds is why I vowed years ago to move to a different marina with dock fingers on each side of my boat. I'll never go back to that garbage.

Now the dock with fingers on both sides is a deal to look for....I guess there is good and bad acting folks everywhere. Kinda hard to judge folks on amount of their investment either way is my point...to lump the high spenders as being bad is just as wrong as the other way around.

I personally would feel horrible if i damaged someone else's boat...hopefully he steps up...I have never banged someones boat and hope not to...my old girlfriend did smack someones trailer once....I left a note on the truck and at the guard gate, but he never called....no damage to his but I lost a light assembly....I'm sure others told him how well I checked his equipment and how much my gf was crying....accidents happen.

There is no doubt he should make it right. I can imagine screwing up and hitting someone's boat - I can't imagine being non-chalant about it, denying it, placing blame on the conditions, etc. I would be so remorseful and embarrassed I would be falling over myself apologizing and offering up reimbursement, assisting in trying to get the right replacement decals, gelcoat repairs, etc. If this guy doesn't pony up I would make sure the marina managment and especially other marina users know who this guy is and what happened. He may have to be publicly tarred and feathered.

Good luck. Nice looking boat - hope it gets back to its previous condition soon.

Yeah, I had to laugh at the whole "I pay for a marina to stay away from the average nimwits at ramps" ...ok, sure buddy whatever you say. I will say that I have experienced more horrible boating practices on the coast by people on there way in or out of a marina and they had a seven figure boat. I bet you that someone who trailers their boat to a ramp on a regular basis is a more skilled pilot than someone who slips their boat. Money doesnt buy brain cells

He was stupid he should admit it and pay for the damages! ...I have a buddy who got hit in the pits at the race track but the waiver said it was no fault he got hurt and the guy that hit him refused to pay for the damage...10K later he fixed his stuff and had a large graphic placed on the sides of his car explaining short of slander what an idiot this guy was and the guys sponsors dropped him and the crowds boo him, since he has been paying for his own program and he shows up less and less...poetic justice.

Thanks for the support guys.
He admited the second hit but Denied the first one. I called my insurence and looks like Ill have to file a claim and pay the 500$ deductible and they take care of the rest with this guy. After its all done I have to fight with his insurence to obtain my deductible back. That doesnt sound right to me at all. I'll make him call his insurence to file the claim.

It doesnt look like much and accidents do happen, however I'm the kind of guy who likes his things looking nee years after. I take care of my toys and I work hard to pay for them.
Sticker might be redoable for a whole lot cheaper but I want it exactly like it was, and OEM will go back on, whole graphic kit or not. If I'm to pay a deductible of 500$ I might asswell do it right.

I examined the boat couple days ago while in shallow water and the damage to the hul is less then I anticipated and most of it will buff out. There is 2 scrathes that went deeper and will probably need more love by someone experienced wih gel coat.

BUT, I realised his tower hit my middle cleat on the boat, scratching it fairly bad and the cleat is now loose inside the hull. Good thing I never use it. A damage I havent noticed the first time.

This whole thing makes me angry, I'll never see it good as new again.

If you say so. I'm sure there's plenty of examples either way. It's been my experience that avoiding ramps is the first step in stress reduction. Just avoid the nonsense entirely. Second step is a marina with divided slips (the finger piers). Third is a more expensive marina. By the time people are paying that much money they're *generally* more interested in maintaining the value of the experience. This usually translates to less stress for everyone.

But hey, I'm just going the experience of having followed that process as it exists out here on the Chesapeake. I'd imagine local lakes and such might have a different experience, so YMMV.

I think we can summarize that if you don't want any potential problems, don't buy a boat to begin with... they will pop up at the ramp or the marina...guaranteed!

[quote="TX H210SS"]I would be angry too....not that i would think it was on purpose or anything, but the fact that damage occurred out of negligence.....I do think paying for a complete sticker set for that one small emblym is not realistic though.

I would check with a local shop that deals in making vinyl signs/stickers and just get one or two made up....can even take teh opportunity to get them customized for a few bucks....that is one of the problems with slipping at a marina that us who trailer don't have to worry about. One poster said that people at Marina's are typically better if you will because they have more money (not word for word, but meaning is same as posted).....that's total BS and a typical "yacht club" attitude that's not even close to reality.....the proof would be hmmmmmmmm this post.

I can say without hesitation that some of the biggest boating idiots i have seen have had the really big marina slipped boats....buying an expensive boat or a renting some floating styrofoam with a platform doesn't mean you acquired knowledge and damn sure doesnt imply you have acquired knowledge about boating. A marina is nothing more than a floating storage lot.....wait til people start looking through your boat and "borrowing" things they forgot.[/quote

+! On the vinyl shop I purchased the entire set for my 220SS for some bad emblems and they were really expensive, come to find out that the place that is installing my decals could've made the damaged emblem for much less than what I paid.

Tragic !!!

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/07/05/25 ... yster-bay/

Sounds like the boat was similar to this one.

http://boats.oodle.com/view/2004-silver ... -diego-ca/

How in the world did you pack 27 on a boat this size ??????

We saw more than one overcrowded boat on the 4th as well. Even my kids commented that some of them were not safe. Maybe our parenting comments do " sink " in.
