Well - i guess if you think about it - who would think to check out the ability to expand the electrical system when inspecting or searching for a boat. I certianly would not have looked farther than corrosion or unprofessional runs and connections.

Really though - it shouldn't be too tough to add. I just pulled over 750 of wire at the house....so tugging on 20 feet shouldn't take but a few minutes.....or......if your main wire run is heavy enough you can do away with the current connetions all together and install the expandable board you want.

The boat has a plastic channel run down the inside where all the wires go, it snaps open. That's how I ran the amp wire. Will take longer to screw in a fuse block then run the wire to the battery. Literally 1 minute. The point though is, this isn't a 19,995 out the door boat. My boat's window sticker without trailer or tax was $30,258.00. It's a beautiful aluminum I beam trailer with 4 wheel disk brakes and swing tongue. All said and done this boat was right around $37,000 out the door.

30 thousand dollar boat, and they can't even put in a provision for ONE accessory. Cheap bastards. Everyone and their grandmother knows that on a boat at least 50+% of them have at least a chart plotter. A 30 minute self install now for most owners requires a couple hundred dollar bill from a boat mechanic to install a fuse block.

I see your point...thanks for sharing. Sucks you hate your boat selection so soon after buying it..that's why I did so much looking and researching and comparing before I made my purchase

I'll be going back to Four Winns ASAP. It's for sale.

That is the point you are completely missing ric, "ASAP". You rushed into buying the Stingray, now you are doing the same damn thing with another boat that you THINK will be your savior. You are a friggin' basket case. as has been said several times, you need professional help for your condition. And you can't get that kind of help on a boating forum.

Summer is over, the rush to get a boat is gone. I managed to save 1 month out of the 3 big ones. I would keep the SR if I was happy with it but I'm not. I have more complaints about it like it will porpoise if two people sit in the back seats even with the trim all the way down. The boat has 5 seats and I can't put 5 people in it. Really could use 100lb in the anchor locker to fix, or trim tabs.

Now that I'm allowed officially to get the boat I originally wanted, that's what I'm going to get. There's nothing wrong with me. I purchased something quick to still have some summer fun. The big summer party is over, so now I have plenty of time to get what I was supposed to get originally. I absolutely stole the stingray price wise, 10k under NADA and paid cash. I can sell it for a good profit buy a 205 and have $$ left over.

What's the problem?

And every forum should have a ric or it gets too boring. I used to lurk on the ultra-liberal Wooden Boat Forum and watch the old libs and conservatives fight each other but then they kicked out most of the crazy right-wingers and now it is boring over there. Keep up the good work ric because we need somebody like you to give a bunch of crap too.

I enjoy reading ric's posts and seeing the mods he does to his boats. I don't see the problem with him changing his mind about his boat. He thought he would like the Stingray, tried it and decided he didn't. If he can get his money out of it when he sells it and purchase the boat he really wants, more power to him.

Here is why it's even an issue....see ric's quote below to a new member made only a couple weeks ago!!!!

"yeah so... um.. Why did you purchase the LE if you want the non-LE version?

So the question becomes.....if you have been unhappy with the boats performance all this time too then why on earth have you been posting about bumping up the speed with prop changes???? Just curious - so you can porpoise at 50mph instead of 48???

It seems your trying to convince yourself through us...you will not get 10k more for that porpoise than you paid...all the mods dont add to the value....and you took a bath on the Four Winns you sold, which you would have had for all the summer had you not rushed to sell it.

When it comes down to it - it's your money and you work for it, so it really doesn't matter to us - but a couple old man sayings come to mind.

Don't piss down my neck and tell me it's raining!!!

and

sorry, but that dog just don't hunt!!!!

Yes, but I didn't go out wanting a Stingray. I knew I wouldn't like it when I purchased it, but it was either buy the boat and enjoy what's left of summer or not buy it and not enjoy summer. I went ahead and purchased it because it was priced right for resale and I wouldn't loose any $$. If my mind got changed and I fell in love with the boat I would keep it, but if I can get near NADA value for it I can step into a nice 2007-8 Monterey 214 FSC

I knew it was probrably a mistake buying that boat for long term use. If the point was knowing you could sell for a profit then thats great!
.But every Stingray I have driven or got a ride in was not worth what they sell for in my opinion. They will get you on the water but most that get them end up trading up to a better quality built boat. Their price and clean simple look are very attractive. but those of us, including you that have been around a few boats should know how to pick apart a preowned boat to the point of how easy is it to upgrade, how easy is it to repair and service, etc....
Good luck with your next choice....
