I have a 96 238 vista with the anchor locker in the bow. Had a little trouble yesterday and now my locker is full of mud. It looks like it drains, can I just put the hose in there and wash it all out?

TIA,

Yes, the drain will allow water out, however, many times the fiberglass job in the locker isn't the best from the factory, and water can seep behind the locker and into the cabin forward bulkhead. You'll now if it seeps, because your cabin floor will get wet at the vee (foremost flooring) and you may see some discoloration of the material used on that bulkhead. Also, the drain hole in the locker is about 1-2 inches from the lowest point of the locker, so all the water never "drains" out.

I would pick as much mud out by hand that you can, then use a sponge and elbow grease to clean the rest.

Thanks for that Niagara,
So being that I live in a very dry climate (Nevada Desert) and I have not seen any discoloration on the floor. Do you think it would be possible for me to spray down the inside of the locker and then sop up the remaining water with a sponge? To get it say clean and dry? I just dont want to fill it with water and have that somehow overflow into my cabin, or seep inbetween the inner and outer hull I guess. It seems as though there is a drain hole right by the front eye (the small chrome piece in pic)

Spraying and spongin' should work. I just know that there are lots of threads here dealing with water seepage in Sundowners due to the anchor locker. And since your Vista is of the same pedigree as a Sundowner (at least as far as the anchor locker goes), I figured I would give ya the heads up. Oh, and yes that chrome thingy is the drain.

My anchor locker was full of mildew when I got my boat. I used soft scrub with bleach, a toilet brush, and the hose to lightly rinse it out. Just make sure your drain is not clogged. Bugs had mine all clogged up.

I had a very small amount of water get in the forward vberth storage when I did it.

Chris, I partially answered this in your other post but I'll add more info here. I did have leakage problems into the cuddy which I fixed with caulk. Even so, I've cleaned up the anchor locker using a hose like you mentioned. Had to spray from the outside in to open the drain hole that was clogged with mud.
