Well,
Today was the final day of the season for us. We headed down to the marina this morning and drove the boat up river about 45 minutes to the launch and put her back on the trailer for the winter. Now the cleaning and winterizing.
Kinda ready for winter right now though. Holidays and other things to keep us busy.
We had a very busy summer and did lots of traveling.
We did Greenport LI twice, Sag Harbor LI, Mystic CT and Block Island just to name a few.
Been a great summer and look forward to next year. Now the projects can also start. I may be installing heat/ac, converting to FWC and thinking of installing led lights on the bow rail. I will keep you all posted of any projects with pics of course. Now just have to find the time and money to do them.

Giaccamo-
We were very busy and so far so good on keeping the boat. Just had some bad things happen at the dock and a few unpleasant trips this year. The Block Island trip was less than desirable, And we are having major problems with the guy next to us at the marina. Hopfully next year will be better.
As far as the Nordic is considered, Maybe a ways off. Would really love one though. Hope you have a great of season and maybe next year we cn put something together.
We are planning on being in Greenport forMemorial day at Mitchel Park, Sag for the 4th of July at the town dock and Greenport again for the Mariners festival at Mithel Park again. Other than that who knows where we will be.

248Vista, we will definitely have to plan to get together next season! Glad you kept the boat!

REgards,

How about getting the marina to move you to a different slip next season? There's usually a few slips that open up, perhaps one would be a good swap? Or at least a "different set" of issues? We moved from one last season, for two reasons. One was the finger pier was on the 'wrong' side. It made getting onto the 348 a little tricky if we had the dinghy on the platform. The other was the 'Captain Bligh' nature of the blowboater next to us. His weekend early morning tirades, barking orders at his ever-changing race crew, were just annoying. A bit more jockeying this winter and we'll have friends that just upgraded their 290 SeaRay to a 330 next to us.

I am looking at moving to a different slip for next season. There are plenty of larger slips available, but the smaller ones can be hard to get. We will see what happens

We are deciding on purchasing a 2008, V248; we currently own a 22’ Stingray with a cuddy cabin. This past season we were docked out of Clinton CT and have since moved to Mystic for the upcoming season, also partly due to a slip neighbor. Last year we also weekend in Greenport (Awesome), at the Quonset RI Air show, several trips to Block Island, Captains Cove in Bridgeport and numerous day trips and we too live in Portland CT. We have out grown our boat; what is you opinion of the Four Winns? See you on the water.

Bob,

As someone who came from the fastest cuddy that Stingray made (230SX) to a 248 Vista all I can say is get ready for a whole other world of quality and ride. My stingrays (two of them) were both great boats but they are not in the same league as the Vista series.

Wakes and waves that make you cringe in the stingray are going to make you laugh in the 248. I am amazed at how solid it rides and that's from the weight and the weight comes from lots of materials in the hull. The 248 actually has a lot LESS deadrise at the transom than my 230 had (17 degrees on the Vista and 21 on the 230SX) and the 230 would POUND your brains out at the same speeds that the Vista just cuts right through.

Good choice on the boat Bob. Where in Mystic will you be slipped. We are staying at Brewer in Deep River, but moving our slip. We will only have a neighbor on one side of us now. We were going to move to Mytic or Westbrook, but dont want to stay in salt water. We go to Mystic 2-3 times a season and always go to Greenport for Memorial Day. Where abouts in Portland do you live?

Thanks for the info! My wife will be very happy to hear that as she always cringes when we hit wakes and complains her insides hurt.

Are you familiar with the mediterrean style seating in the back? We are contemplating changing to this option but concerned when the seat is up as normal that there is a space between the seat and backboard where things can fall through?

We spent two years on the River at Yankee and felt the heavy brackish water was infused with a lot of salt anyway. We love being minutes from the open sea and spend most of our time in the waters off of RI.

We spent the second day at the CT boat show and have decided it will be a Four Winns. Best deal, best layout (I can actually stand in the head) and I like the dealer. G&R Marine was fantastic to us with our previous boat.

The G&R guys are great to deal with. I was at the show today and was kinda surprised they didnt have any larger cruiser than the 248 there. The head is usable. Large enough to shower in and use for normal business. When we hook in Block Island we have no problems at all. We have a dink and a portable genny, so its really nice. Great boating on that side of the sound. We really like going to Greenport and Sag Harbor though.
