Ben was it just the two of you working on that? How heavy do you think it was?

It was very light! Maybe I'm a bad judge of weight but I would be shocked if it was over 75-100lbs. My dad lowered the arch while I fed the wires thru, and Dana even lifted it up by herself to reposition a cushion...but honestly she's been body slamming heavy bags in her combat conditioning class 4 days a week so lifting a hollow aluminum arch wasn't much of a challenge for her

Hey Ben! Glad you were able to get the arch off! Sorry we have been super busy around here and I haven't much time to scroll the forums. I think you are pretty close with your weight estimate. Om the bigger cruisers the arches used to come up on the deck and two or three of us could pick it up and walk it back into place. Now the new fiberglass ones.. well thats why we have a lift!! hahaha!

Mines a 2008 and is fiberglass. Maybe that's why the dealer said it was difficult to manage.

The height of the door frame was around 11' 10" and we needed around 12' 4" to get under the door. I think the factory lists the height of the 268 on it's factory trailer at 12' 6", but we are a couple of inches lower with our Loadmaster trailer.

I'm looking at making thin rubber gaskets to put under the arch so I don't have to re caulk the base of the arch every time I take the boat in or out of storage. Does anybody have an idea of what kind of rubber is best suited for this job?

Ben, I have used old blown out motorcycle inner tubes for gaskets. Heavy Duty off road tubes are very thick and once cut open they make a nice flat large area to cut up..

some are up to 8 to 10 mills thick....
just a suggestion

Silicone Rubber is a little expensive, but is UV, Chemical and Fuel resistant.

Such as Mcmaster-Carr p/n 5963K18

Hello, I just stumbled on to this thread. What type of speakers did you go with on your arch? I am considering options to add speakers to my arch on my 268 Vista.

These speakers came with the boat when we bought it. They are made by Poly Planar and are a real disappointment. I'm trying to find a good replacement for them, but have 4 screw holes in a rectangle pattern to deal with now :? http://www.amazon.com/Poly-Planar-2-Way-Panel-Speaker--White/dp/B0000AXOXR/ref=sr_1_39?ie=UTF8&qid=1363317121&sr=8-39&keywords=poly+planar+marine

I might end up gutting the speakers that are inside of the unit and replace them with a slim mount Polk DB651's http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-Slim-Mount-6-5-Inch-Speakers/dp/B000P0NJPS

Maybe a pair of the DB651's with a spacer ring will work for you?

I kept reading about the DB651's on this board. I kept thinking how much difference could they make? I finally broke down and bought a pair to replace mine and immediately I was sorry I hadn't done it sooner. Great speakers! Now I just have to part with a little more cash to replace the ones in the cabin.

The fast facts page accessible under the Four Winns customer service website lists the Vista 268 (without the radar arch) on a Four Winns trailer at 10'6".
