I have a 2001 298 Vista and recently bumped the dock piling and lost my starboard side exhaust vent cover. I ordered a new cover and want to know the easiest way to replace it. From what I have seen you must remove both hatches so you can access the engine bay and then get inside the bay to secure the nuts on the cover. If anyone has an easier way let me know. I thought of just sealing the cover with 5200 caulk and not put the nuts on the studs. Is this a wise idea? Any help is appreciated because I really don't want to get inside the engine compartment unless absolutely necessay. Thans

I replaced mine on a 03 268. I was able to remove the u-shape seating, there as a hole that you could access the nuts for the vent. wasnt to bad of a job.

Not sure about just using 5200.
