Is there any way to adjust the position of the throttles on a twin engine boat?

My 278 Vista with twins, the throttle handles are in 2 different spots (about 1" from each other) at the same RPM. It seems like I need to adjust the one throttle handle back 1" to match the other. It makes getting on plane a PITA because once I pop on plane I have to quickly pull back one of the throttles about an inch to match the RPM's of the other engine.

Any advice?

NoT 100% sure but I think it is just a small adjustment on the throttle cable at the engine. One may be stretched more than the other

You should be able to adjust them at either end. The engine side is easier.

Thanks! My friends are telling me to just leave it alone but I have OCD and its driving me nuts. Not to mention when I get on plane and the boat starts behaving funny because even though the throttles are at the same position - the stbd engine is like 400RPM's faster than the port until i readjust the handles.

I will check it out at the engine end, sounds easier to me too. Thanks again!!

What kind of control does the boat have? I have been looking into changing the old loose OMC control on my boat and from what I have seen there is no adjustment for either the throttle or shifter cable at the control end, its all done at the engine end. There is a multi step procedure in the OMC shop manual that I have for getting it right. The basic idea is for the throttle not to advance until the drive is really in gear. It sounds like one is lagging behind the other. You might have an easier time of it if you get a helper to watch both throttle levers on the carb/throttle body and see what happens when you advance the throttles the same amount.
