I agree completely. My wife wanted to name our current boat before we took delivery. I said I can't name it until I see it's personality. I also like names that have double meanings.
Here are the names of my last three boats (new to old):
"Knot Easy" (it previous name was "Knot on Call"). This keeps part of the old name, and reflects the amount of work it takes to trailer, clean, and cover a 24' after each use. Double meaning might mean easy speed.
"Sea Cow" (Chaparral 197 Cuddy) Inspired by "Steers like a cow", a line from
Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy describing a spaceship. Steers like a cow was my impression on an early trip when I was heavily loaded with people and dive gear. Double meaning is a nod to our Manatee population.
"Blue Streak" my 16' Blue Ski-Boat. (go-fast boat)
Ric, How about for your boat... "SPERM WHALE"
