As I search the forum it seems to be a very limited number of 278 owners on here. Would be great to be able to share info regarding our model. How many of us are on here?

I sent a pm to the originator of this thread indicating my interest in sharing information with other 278 owners.

I have a 278. Since I recently moved, I have way too many things on the honey do list and have not found a marina I like yet, my vista might stay in storage this season.

We own a 2008 v278 and love it :D , it is slipped @ Sulphur Creek Resort on beautiful Dale Hollow Lake in TN. It has a single 5.7 Volvo Penta DP, and a 5k genny with air and heat. It is the perfect fit for the Admiral and myself

Nice to see this thread got some replies. Looks like so far their are 3 of us with the older late 90's generation and a few more newer ones.

How do the 2 generations compare? Are their a lot of similarities or what are the major differences?

Have any of us ever been long distances on this model?

I have 5.7's but no generator. generator must be nice for on the hook!

Do you have a windlass on your boat? Can you give me some info and maybe pics of it? Is it vertical or horizontal? etc

I'm in

2010 278, early build for that year, later in the year, model was apparently re-badged as a 285.

5.7 GXi, arch, ac/heat, all the other basic equipment, but no gen

Boat came with factory FW trailer, but someone wanted it more than me a couple of years ago, so now have a new aluminum trailer (Tuff Trailer) this year

Which trailer would you prefer if you had the options to buy either one for the same price? :?:

FW trailer painted up to match the boat is a great looking package, but....

Tuff Trailer aluminum trailer, for me was about $3000 Cdn cheaper than to replace the exact FW trailer I had.

The new trailer is not color matched or decaled, and does not have swing away tongue.

The new trailer has the following:

T6 aluminum frame
Stainless steel fasteners
Galvinized steel cross members
Electric over hydraulic disc brakes, both axles
Vault oil bath hubs
2 speed winch
Sealed LED lighting
Boat actually sits lower on the trailer than it did before

All round better trailer for me as I primarily spend all of my time in the Pacific ocean.
