That's a nice big screen on that one. I've been using the Casio Commando for the last 2 years, and it's a waterproof/ruggedized smartphone. It's been in my trunks while swimming a handful of times, and dropped on the floor constantly...and it keeps on ticking. The new model of it will be coming out soon and will feature a built in barometer which will be nice for tracking weather changes while out on the lake.http://www.casiogzone.com/us/commando/

I might sell my Note 2 for it. I'll miss the big screen but the ability to get wet supersedes that want.

My wifes iPhone 5 is waterproof to 2m for an hour with her new case, and floats with it's added float.. Drop tested to 2m for shock resistance and meets the following specs:

Military Standard 810F-516 — MIL STD 810F is the standard that addresses a broad range of environmental conditions, with MIL STD 810F-516 being the section of the standard that is specific to functional drop. This standard requires that the item can physically and functionally withstand the relatively infrequent, non-repetitive shocks encountered in handling, transportation, and service environments. This may include an assessment of the overall material system integrity for safety purposes in any one or all of the handling, transportation, and service environments.

IP-68 — IEL 60529 is the standard for Ingress Protection from water and dust for enclosures. IP-68 is the most rigorous classification in this specification. The first characteristic number describes protection from solid foreign objects. An enclosure with a characteristic number of 6 can withstand exposure to circulating talcum powder for 8 hours with no dust ingress after that period. The second characteristic number describes protection against water. An enclosure with a characteristic number of 8 exceeds all other water protection levels and is specified by the manufacturer. For LifeProof, number 8 signifies LifeProof cases will withstand immersion in water to a depth of 6.6 feet / 2 meters for 1 hour.

My buddy has a lifeproof. It's freaking awesome. If they only made something like that for the Note 2 so I wouldn't have to sell it for a S4 Active

Hmmm. Customers and lake. Two words that go together like waffle iron and forehead.

Since I work with most of the new phones coming out, I've pretty much gotten over all the fascination with them and would be fairly happy to see many of them go into a lake... and not float. I'm about as far from being an iHead as anyone you'll ever meet, but my iPhone 5 is the best phone I've ever had - by far.

I've been using the lifeproof case for two years now. They are great. Didn't know they had a float for it.

The trouble with various cases (lifeproof, otterbox, etc) is that they make the phone too big and bulky. also, the screen protector takes away from the 'brilliance' of the display and lessens the sensitivity. Having a device that doesn't require all of this is what's really appealing. IMHO, this is samsung continuing to keep ahead of apple in the hardware realm. I can't wait to see the next round of samsung ads

I really don't get the attraction of a phone that requires a man purse to carry around.

Exactly. No fanny pack needed with the S4 active.

Personally, I'd like to toss my cell phone in the drink and never get another one. No techno issues with it. I'm just getting bored with "having to be connected" all the time.

+1 on the life case. Just switched from a droid to iPhone 5 when they came out. I'll never go back.

The life-proof barely adds any size to the phone by itself, and you certainly don't need the float for just walking around normal day of life.. The float just pops on and off of the lifeproof case, and my wife has actually barely used it.. Only time she might is if she's walking boat to boat a lot, or wants to take her phone out on the water for some picture taking or something.. Personally, I'm not an apple guy either, and I do wish they'd come out with some other options for phones other than Apple.. For what I do, I love the 27 hours of talk time I get in a single charge of my Razr Maxx HD, that's pretty nice..
