I must say I really wish that uploading pictures on this forum was as easy as every other forum I've ever been a part of. I believe it would really help this site.
The windlass has been delivered. came yesterday and it appears to be in pretty good condition and to my surprise the seller included the circuit breaker and the high voltage rocker switch. It also came with the backing plates that he was using. After some investigating I found a small harness of wires under the vberth in the small triangular compartment on the port side. I removed the dash panel which holds the factory windlass switch. I then matched the colors of the wires under the berth to those of the switch. They match! (But not directly- the wire changes color at the 15 wire disconnect).
My plan is to:
1:install a
new 25amp circuit breaker at the battery switch location. fourwinns already has a spot designated for windlass there and it is very close to the batteries
2: purchase and use a contactor (solenoid) in the compartment where i found the wires under the birth. this will allow me to use the switch that is already on the dash and keep me from cutting any additional holes in to the boat.

Using the contactor will enable me to add other items in the future I.E. remote, foot switches etc
3: Using the contactor will enable me to run the #6awg wire up the port side which is the shortest run from battery to windlass. This is also the hardest run to make because I have to get behind the dinette.
4:From the contactor it should be pretty easy to access the anchor locker although the panel under the v birth has to be removed in its entirety.
Right now im searching the forum for a post about where to get the #6 wire cheap. west marine wants 2.50 per foot!!!!
