got the boat to charge both batteries with the shore power and the horn to work. the horn had a bad button. only problems i have now is figuring out how to use the toilet and how to replace the windshield wiper motor. can not figure out how to access the windshield wiper motor. also while running is the boat suppose to charge both batteries off the alternator or just one. checked and only the engine battery is being charged off of the alternator.
thanks

While running the engine it will only charge the battery that you have selected with the battery switch. Change the switch to "both" and you should see it charging both batteries with the engine running.

While connected to shore power it will charge both batteries regardless of what the battery switch is set to, even with it in the "off" position.

At least that is how mine works.
I like to alternate between batteries every day while I'm on the boat. That way they both get used and charged.

Having to be in the "both" position to charge batteries doesn't sound right to me, I think the problem lies with the installation of the battery isolater. If you take a look at installation instructions, specifically paragraph 8b, you could have problems charging an accessory battery unless you have the Smart Switch Guest #2200 which I'm guessing no one has this item.

My charging problem was that I wasn't charging any of my three batteries from the alternators, now that I've bypassed the isolater I have remedied the problem for my starting batteries. I leave the charging of my house battery to shore power and the generator.

Due the above mentioned problem and a few others, I have inherent distrust of Four Winns electrical engineering, anytime I have an electrical problem I assume that Four Winns screwed it up and start researching how the item should have been wired.
