So I'm a little late to this party, but I have to give props to swimplatforms.com, too - we put an extended platform on our Larson 290 a few years back (ours was placed above the existing "swim step", which eliminated any step-ups for my klutzy self to trip over) and it was WELL worth the money! With the swim step alone, the outdrives protruded out well past the edge of the platform which was potentially dangerous - for the kiddos especially. New platform = problem solved!! Plus there were the added bonuses of easier crossing when rafted up with friends and just generally that much more space on the boat! If you're considering it, it's an investment that is well worth the cost (in my opinion).
