Rain is in the area til at least 5-6pm, but if it clears up I'm pulling the access cover off and starting the awesome process of hand pumping out the remaining 10-12 gallons in the tank. Using that HEET stuff helped at least it idles now, but 5 minutes off the dock when the fuel mixes it goes back to running horrible. Time to stop being lazy. I'll see about getting a sample.

Last year and early this season I noticed a lot more exhaust coming out of my boat than normal (especially sitting out of gear). Recently, I switched from regular (87 octane) gas to premium (93). I have always added Star Tron to the tank as well. I have noticed a big improvement since the switch.

Lesson learned on being cheap. The little bit extra for the good stuff when we have already invested so much in these boats makes sense.

Curious if anyone else has ever noticed more exhaust with the lower octane gas?

Drained the tank. Gas was nassstttyy full of water. Ironically the fuel level sensor didn't survive being carefully removed so need a new one of those. Boat runs better but still has issues. Backfiring and hesitation randomly. Probably has water in the float bowl, just going to order a rebuild kit.

Wait I'm dumb. When you backfire a holley it blows out the diaphragm. Gotta rebuild it.

I'm glad it's not! Easier to upgrade this winter to a 5.7 block and 4bbl carb

My 04 Sea Ray had a carbed engine as well. It was a 215 so I'd guess they were a little more popular still on those size boats to keep costs down.
