How has a camera crew not discovered this and started covering the drama? I'd watch the crap out of it on TV

HR's son (Viking) is talking to the guys on SA and provided proof it is him. In typical SA fashion, many members are mocking him and his dad but a few have offered their assistance and advice.

This is probably why Viking is reaching out. The Bayliner is out of commission so they are having to resort to their tender to go back and forth.

holy hell was a 2.5 suzuki $500 outboard out of the budget for the "tender" i mean serious if you sank off shore you would be at the mercy of trade winds and current.. in addition that thing looks about 8' long no way is that good for 3-4 crew.. one wave and to the bottom.. needs to be a Zodiac or a Boston Whaler as a life boat otherwise its a glorified water line wash station..

i am wondering what the main issues with setting sail are.. are the scarred.. things broken (other than the old crusty byliner) it sure is looking every day that they have no freaking clue what they are doing.. this is stereotypical (someone read a book and thought "i can do that") and now reality of the facts that it aint happening kicks in..

i want to see something epic.. either successfully make it.. or pleas set sail the rigging fly off and you crash into a bridge and break into 1000 wooden chunks.. something happen..

This poor bastard can't get a break. New post by Spoffo:

Posted Today, 05:38 PM

HEADLINE! The Deal Goes Down!!As I write this (1:50 PM our time,) HR is on his way to our local lockup in the back of one of our San Rafael PD cruisers. For real. No shit.

To start at the beginning: around 11:30 I stopped by for my daily observation. Same as the past few days. FH quietly at anchor, FH jr. tied up alongside, probably just on the verge of floating as the tide came in. Nothing to report, so I go for a longish walk. About 12:15, I come back past the boat. Nothing seems to have changed. But then I notice that the Bayliner isn't there. (And we thought it wasn't running.)

No sign of it on the nearby water, so I drive over to the marina to see if it's turned up there. Surprisingly, FH Jr. is not tied up at the fuel/bait dock. As I start to scout the marina to see if he's tied somewhere else, I see the flashing lights of two police cars down near the D/E gate. Then two more cop cars arrive with lights flashing. It takes a few minutes to piece together the picture, but here's what I saw:

Two cops were politely questioning a nicely-dressed guy on the bench in front of the marina office. It looked like he had a small amount of blood on his face from a scratch or cut. About 100 yards away, by the D/E gate, 3 or 4 cops were confronting HR with that wary "Sir, I need you to calm down" look. A couple of times, I heard Rod's voice rise in that seriously pissed off yelling mode I've heard before. Not a wise way to interact with the law.

Of course, I didn't have my camera. (And if I had, I'm not sure I would have pulled it out for fear of setting off Rod, the cops or both.

I drove up to the house, and, luckily, I could see the spot where HR and the cops were from the front terrace. When I got the scope on them, things had turned from bad to worse. Rod was now seated on the wall with his hands CUFFED behind him and three large, serious cops were watching over him. About 10 minutes later, they stood him up, very carefully eased him into the back seat of one of their cars (just like you see on TV) and drove off.

I tried to get some pictures of this with my digiscoping setup. If I have anything good, I'll post it in a few minutes, but don't get your hopes up.

It seems clear that HR and the guy by the office had had some kind of run-in. Beyond that I know nothing. Hopefully, someone here who is more plugged-in to the LL Marina scene knows or can find out what the story is. The only thing clear is that this whole long tale is becoming very sad.

PS: Unsolved questions that I'll try to sort out later today: 1) was Michael in the marina or back on FH? (I didn't see him at any point in the above.) 2) where is the Bayliner? I'll walk the marina carefully and see if I can find it. 3.) Where is the dinghy? I didn't check real carefully, but it appeared to not be with FH when I discovered the Bayliner missing.

More later.

Looks like they got him on a couple of outstanding warrants. I guess the guy at the marina didn't file charges (yet).

Info starting to come out.

TusconBob:

Posted Today, 07:29 PM

The altercation started in the Marina office around 1 today after HR entered and demanded to know why his marina access gate key was turned off.. He was told that since he was no longer part of the marina residents, that it was standard procedure until the key was returned. Evidently HR wasn't happy with this answer and started becoming belligerent and shoved the Harbor Master which started a fight and culminated in HR biting part of the Harbor Masters finger off (hence the previously reported blood) and fled the office. He was apprehended in front of DE dock access gates where you all know the rest of the story.

- From a resident in the Marina that was there today.

99 problems... and $11 Grand for driving on suspension? Holy Crap! Too bad the boat won't be enough collateral for a bail bond.

I am wondering if he got his insured? You would think you would have to. What if he lost control and hits another boat, He would have to be able to cover the damages. Something like his boat is neat , but it needs to be in a quarry or a lake not Open Waters. Soon there will be alot of Drift wood washing up for the Crafty people out there. :(

This may vary by state, but in Florida, we are not required by the gov't to carry any insurance on a boat. However, finance companies will require that you have insurance if you use the boat as collateral for a loan. I doubt that Rod has insurance on that plywood contraption.

Umm.. Ray. I think its time for this guy to insure his boat ... if you get my drift..
