Sounds familiar... I worked on the boat for a week...now I'm stuck working on the house for a week. :(
Not as much fun!

Ric: Good for you for fixing him up with lines. Maybe he will slowly learn.

Oh ya I get that... "We'll now you can spend some time cleaning the house"
Ray your right . It's not as much fun. It's also funny how the wife loves to ride in a clean boat and make comments on the dirty boats. Hana

I clean my boat religiously. The house? Eh. I pay a girl friend to do that.

+1 I like parking far out for this reason, only issue is you have to walk behind all those parking spots where those dinged up cars are...might be more dangerous! lol

I have seen people use bungees in conjunction with their dock lines but never alone. Definitely not going to have stress cracks from the lines being too tight with that idiots setup.

So I was just thinking about this today after I got back from the lake. I thoroughly was my boat inside and out after each day use. I was wondering if that is typical or if I am being obsessive. I assume that those that keep their boat slipped or on a lift do not was that regularly. What do the rest of you do?

Being slipped in Florida I have to scrub it down with soap/water once a week minimum. Sometimes twice a week. Every other week scrub the hull while beached. Once a month use some mold remover on the vinyl. In the summer months you can't cover it even with a vented cover, the heat destroys everything inside. I keep the cabin A/C set at 78.

Very thorough wash/wax/detail in the spring, then sponge off with distilled water after getting off the lake (a gallon is all it takes and doesn't leave spots). Then towel off. Interior, 303 a couple of times per season.

Wipe down with vinegar and water every time it comes out of the water. Soapy hot water and rinse interior every time, vacuum out everything every time. (nothing worse than reaching in for a nice clean beach towel and having it covered with dead gnats and other critters or sand). If we get the usual wind during the week I some times have to do the inside again before we take it out too.
I wash my swim trunks once a season whether they need it or not. Ha!

Do you all really leave the cockpit open to the elements during the summer, sun and rain?

Yep. In my experience it causes less damage. With a cover on it causes the vinyl to turn brown and brittle. Cover off? Just some mildew. That's easy.

GOOD NEWS!! He purchased some nylon rope from harbor freight. No more bungee cords!!

Hell no! Maybe Ric does, but not me. I can't stand to see my vinyl exposed to the UV for longer than I am out in the boat.

Mine is covered with full mooring cover (with vents) an hour after it is wiped clean. Kept on trailer in side yard,

Mine gets the snap on cover and then the mooring cover installed after each use, It keeps the sun off of the seats and carpet, Most of the time I will unsnap the carpet and roll it up and put it back in before each use. I always wipe mine down and wash it regularly after each use. whats a half hour to 45 min? worth it to keep it in great shape. Its why she looks the way she does now. I put vinyl protection on at least once a month as well.
