Well the dealer came back with a much better price of just under 5000 difference to move from carb to 5.0mpi. Its a move from 07 to 08 boat. I think they have made a good attempt to satisfy a customer, just not sure about adding that price diff on.

I did inquire into a H200 with the 5.0mpi and that would keep me at maybe only +1500. However there are some nice things on the 210 such as forward latter, deeper cockpit that would be missed.

But I do believe the 5.0 carb will be a mistake.

Thanks for all the help.

Just curious - have you compared to an '06 with a 5.7?

Rather than compare the price difference directly between the 07 and 08... If you are going with the bigger motor - you know you are going with an 08 (given that you stay with that dealer).

That being said - if you are going new boat route - you should consider just building an 08 the way you want it and shoot for the biggest discount possible. One would think you should get to the 20-25% off MSRP (built online) price...

Do you want to share the pricing that the dealer is giving you with the options that the boats have?

Cougar is right. I am on my 3rd boat. The first was a 23' sail, living in Groton, it was common enough, and bought cheap from a co-worker. Second was an 18' Maxum. Again, good deal from a friend. The point is, until now, I've been settling on the leftovers of others.
Last year I finally got the gumption, and down payment, to get all the bells and whistles I wanted, shopped for the best price at the best time, and found it. Try to think ahead about each option. Ask yourself, the wife, kids, nighbors dog..... what ever it takes to decide what will get used. Do not sell yourself short, or settle for something you don't want. When I started my search the Wakeboard tower wasn't even on my list, nor a few other things. However, after playing, and asking the question to friends, I decided to get one among other options. Low and behold I had even test driven one with everything, just because it was there. A few months later, I hitched up, and took it home.

My Neccesities....
Long Swim Ladder.... last boat only had one step.
Bow ladder.... I beach and camp frequently. This option is typically only available on 21' and up
Snap-in carpet
Flip up or removable cushion in the transom/bow boarding areas.... Cushions are expensive to repair/replace!
Storage..... tubes, skis, wakeboard and kneeboard.... not one of FW's strong points, but the tower makes up for it.
Low profile windshield.... only because it looks cool
Engine.... plenty of power (350mag or better) w/ Captains-Call exhaust, because I want everyone to know how much gas I burn.
Captains seats w/ flip-up bolsters.... easier to see ahead with the bow up.
Swing away trailer tounge.... My overall length could not exceed 25' due to driveway space available
Easy to maintain..... remote oil filter, drain hose, and single point water drain... because I missed one plug one winter, and had to replace my exhaust headers as a result.
Good slow speed characteristics, and good wake when on plane..... one of FW's strong points

I hope my experience helps. Sorry to be so long winded, but this info is what a forum is about.

I particularly like Walt's requirement:
Engine.... plenty of power (350mag or better) w/ Captains-Call exhaust, because I want everyone to know how much gas I burn.

I bet Walt also has this sticker all over his boat:

Ok we are going withe extra 4500 and getting the 5.0MPI (270HP) we are 27% off msrp. The 07 was 36% off which is why it was kind of a tough call. The fuel injection will be nice, and 270 should be good. It wont be a race boat but I think it should do allright. I am glad I made the call now. on an order out it would have only been a 20% discount and another 2Gs for a 350 at 300hp.
I am good.

and to think we went to the boat show looking at 180's with a 190 Hps and here we are with a nice 210 and 270Hp. I think I can live with this.

Although after seeing pictures of the 200SS on the forum here, hmmm maybe a 210SS? then i slapped myself back to reality.

The major difference I saw between the 200SS and 210SS was the bow ladder. Just look at the pic's by our new 200SS owners, and compare to mine. Very little difference is visible.
Congrat's! You won't be disapointed with the added HP! 270 pony's with the right prop should give you very good hole shot, and still about 52+ mph. Post some pics when you get them!
Cougar... I don't have that sticker ......yet. I want people to think it's just another mild mannered boat so they hop in without worry. After they're all sitting nice and cozy, put out past the "No Wake" bouys, flip the exhaust, and let 'er rip! Ah, the sound of a big motor thundering across the water, drowning out the screams of terror from the passangers.

Well its a done deal, signed the papers this afternoon:

2008 H210:
- Two tone True Red +silver/titanium
- 5.0GXi/SX
- SunSport Seating
- Bow fill in
- Bow scuff plate
- Cockpit and forward cover

We take posession mid March.

Thanks for all the help!!! Yeah its not the 5.7L but I feel comfortable it will be more then adequate. i think I would have been unhappy with the 5.0l Carb version.
