Our Dredging project begins next week, weather permitting. The lake is at Winter Pool so the dock is well out of the way. When we finish the slope to the bottom of the lake will be a much steeper grade and we will have 8 Feet of additional depth. As you can see here we have a drainage ditch across our property. This is what is silting up our cove. All of this will be back filled with the dirt/spoil out of the lake. Ironically I am getting the most benefit but it is saving the others a ton of money because we are using the spoil on my property instead of trucking it out and paying to dump it somewhere...

In this area we will be building a catch pond with river rock that will catch the water coming down the hill. Then it will be piped down to the lake and come out through the rip rap on shore. The pipes will be buried under the spoil. This will ensure that the spoil will not re-erode back into the cove.

All of the flags indicate where the dirt/spoil will be distributed and smoothed. This time next year at low pool our dock will be 50 to 60 feet closer to our house than it is now. As you can see all of the docks get closer together as we "chase the shore line" when they lower the lake. Once this project is completed our docks will now go up and down as opposed to in and out, giving us a lot more space. We are dredging out from 4 lots but all of the spoil will end up on my lot. We will also now be able to put in a nice walk way down to the water.

Lastly we will be continuing the rip rap all the way around the cove across my property and then we can build a nice deck that we can use to walk down to the dock. After all this I will now be able to get a boat lift (because of the increased depth), increase the amount of time I can leave my boat in the water by about 2 months, and we will be able to go to and from the lake without getting muddy anymore
