Looks like someone didn't know how to load the boat on the trailer. I can only imagine the dialogue at the boat ramp on that one... "Honey, I know what I'm doing! Stop telling me that's wrong!"
What is vynal? Trade name for the material they use? I've always wondered about those wraps. Neat stuff!

Also my i recommend you posting a few pictures of said "bad gel cot" as i detail boats regularly that look far gone and you can restore a gel cot to brilliant shine with the correct products and time.. you can look at my boat. it was milky, dull, faded, and looked horrible.. but knowing what i know i spent a few good saturdays with my buffer and now she is a shiny shimmering hull. now this is around $700-1,000 detail job that i did. but being it is mine i went all out.. now a decent car/boat detail chop can ret you buffed to shine and protected for a few hundred bucks.. and this may be a better option than flat out a full paint job.. now if it is sun burnt thru the gel too deep then a new paint job would be in store..

pictures will help me guide you in the best result and financially logical direction...

you would be surprised what the proper product and elbow Greece can do to revive and save Gel cot..

this is my boat looks lost and dead.. but BOOM

this is what a dull crusty hull can look like with the correct products and process..

Curious...how do the edges of the wrap hold up? Just wondering about the force of moving water striking the leading edges and peeling them back. Is this a total different product than the stickers the place on rv's that seem to shrink with prolonged sun exposure?

Marine wraps are designed for the water and friction. The edges have a 1/8" -1/4" of clear that makes the transition and has a taper to it. You do not put the wrap on the bottom of the hull, just the gunwales. It holds up. I know a few pro charter anglers that have wrapped flats boats that run in the 60s every day of the week and also the tournaments and they don't have issues. another thought is all NASCAR is compleat wraps. And they run 150-200 and it doesn't fling off of the car. You would be extremely surprised at how sticky stuck the 3M material is.

Oracal makes a vinyl product, their 951 series, that is rated for submersion in salt water. Maximum shrinkage is .004in after 10 years in -58f to 230f outdoors. Self extinguishing, does not burn.

Expensive.
