Agreed, Lou. Ice, contrary to popular belief, is easy to drive upon. All one has to do is remember that there is limited traction and adjust one's driving accordingly. There will be roads one cannot drive upon due to the slope being too great, and there is a practical speed limit, minimum following distance, and limits to how quickly one can turn. 4 wheel drive indeed does help for both acceleration and braking (engine braking). I suggest to everyone to take advantage of every situation where there's snow or ice on the roads by finding a large abandoned parking lot and figuring out how to drive on it safely, as well as how to recover from spins, slips, and slides.

Yes, that was 3-4 years ago diving in "St Elsewhere" in the Caribbean, actually either St. Croix or St. Maarten I think. As a diver, a guy's gotta like water temps in the low to mid 80s and visibility well past 100 feet. For a cold water guy like me its fun to dive in T shirt and trunks now and then. Diving every year in far away places and shooting high def video are two other expensive habits on top of boating and paying college tuition. At least the kid is done with school now. I posted a few brief videos from the Turks and Caicos a couple years ago on YouTube under "grbockman1" if you like lobsters and sharks.

She wanted a blue 268, but we couldn't find one at the time. We're having a blast with it, though. Had 32 nights on board last summer. Not bad for missing a few weekends in Minnesota.

That is a great looking 238 Vista you have, neutron.

Yeah, the topic comes up now and then. There are a few little minor considerations.......like jobs........and moving costs......and ........well............ we've heard it all before.

We're having a thaw here for the next few days.

Yes, it has certainly been a colder, snowier winter for us in Ontario, Canada. We are located approximately two hours by car east of Detroit, Michigan.

This afternoon our high temperature is sitting at - 15 degrees C., and we are currently under another snow squal watch. In checking the 14 day weather tend, we are forecast to not get above 0 degrees until after March 13th. Some boaters aim to get their boats back into the water during the first week of April around the Great Lakes area. Since we won't get a chance for much ice to melt over the next two weeks, I'm betting we are going to have a much slower start to this year's boating season as compared to last year.

Mike.

The water behind my house is still pretty well frozen, there was a thaw last weekend which allowed me to get abut 8" of snow off the boat cover, I aired it out, put in a few more supports, put on 2 coats of water proofing spray and then buttoned it all up again...
Now back into the ice box, 16*F this morning, snow showers today, coastal storm Sun into Monday, could be a few inches to a foot not sure yet.

Ric you should tell those girls, that tats don't age well. What looks OK when you're 25 looks horrendous when you're 45 LOL....

Whats making my winter less bad, is 2 Jeeps, one Subaru all with General Altimax Arctic studded snows and my '97 Toro 3000 GTS 2 stroke single stage snow blower. Toro specs a TCW-III 2 stroke oil for these so it smells like an outboard....

Hmmm, lets see. It's been freaking well below seasonally stinkin cold since November. More snow and ice than we average over 5 years already. Frozen throttle and control cables on my snow blower. Car not starting. Frost quakes. Struts breaking on wifeys van from ice pot holes. Heating costs going through the roof. Frozen pipes downstairs. Almost another bloody foot of white shit this morning. County 30 closed on my way home tonight cuz of squals making me an hour late. And that's the tip of the iceberg!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, ya, I'm ready for some warmth.

PS. The next tree hugger that mentions global warming to me is getting punched in the mouth.

Haven't you heard? It's not "global warming" any more, it is now "climate change".
