Reading some of your posts about winterizing amazes me ,here in Australia that is unheard of due to our generally warmer climate so ,just wondering when do you guys in the Northern Hemisphere begin your boating.?
Not meaning to rub salt into the wound but I'm going water skiing in a fortnight as it is summer here.
Safe boating
Ardy

Must be nice! This will be my first full season, but I plan on starting as soon as I'm sure the cooling water won't freeze during the trailer ride between the lake and my garage (likely early April). There's a few guys up here with outboards that fish in the Niagara river year round. And yes, its -20 C outside right now. If its not frozen, a true Canadian will drop a boat in it!!!

The water is still too cold for skiing, but I made my 2008 debut on Saturday. 70F (21c) with no wind and not a cloud in the sky, no more hard freezes in the forecast, and I was itching to get my new toy wet.

I'm guessing our Great Lakes friends will have to wait another week or two...

You guys amaze me I start skiing in October and finish at the end of April . The cooler months the water temp is between 10 and 18 degrees c and usually just go canoeing dispite the air temp being 17 to 23 degrees or there abouts. God willing this winter I hopefully will be running a new motor in a new FW H180
Have fun

Here in Kansas/Missouri, only the hardiest boaters get out much before May, and many of us don't until late May or early June. The water isn't truly warm until nearly the end of June.

I guess Mike was talking about me. I normally start in late April and go as late in November as possible. I have a "shorty" wetsuit to get me through the colder months. This year was the exception, though, as my last weekend of boating was Labor Day (first weekend of Sept. in U.S.).

2 feet of ice and 3 feet of snow right now, hopefully late April - early May. As soon as it's nice enough I'll start going out fishing and cruising around. I got a full wetsuit this winter to maybe start skiing a little earlier since the water is chilly into mid/late June.

I really need to move south.

Like Mike and Paul said, I start my "Maintenance" ;) boating in April. Typically after April 1st, it won't get below freezing at night. From early May on to about the first weekend in October is good for the water sports, then she get's put away for the winter.
