I'm still pursuing the cockpit carpets. The OEM made the dark grey in the 2000 298. Do you like your color? Would/have you changed the color?

The admiral wants the oatmeal/beige. We put them in our other boat and they did well. She feels the grey is too "dark looking".

I've got a price from FW for about $550 for the dark grey originals and a similar price by a local carpet/vinyl guy for an after market oatmeal. I just don't love the pattern/thickness of this oatmeal carpet.

I'm leaning towards ordering carpet from Custom Marine carpet and having my local guy cut it.

Can anyone elaborate on their thoughts?

We put a beige carpet in ours, it has s 'wave' pattern. We had a local guy measure and install - we've installed high quality house carpet (as has many of the boats in our marina) and couldn't be happier. I see no reason to install marine carpet.

Being mine is a bowrider, I have no indoors. However, when my OEM carpet is done I'm getting some tight weave Berber style carpet and just having it cut and hemmed around the edges. I will scotchguard it...this rubber backed stuff does nothing but hold in water, fall apart and stick to the deck.

I just need something soft on the hoofs and comfy for the pooch.....beige is always a good choice and matches scotch, bourbon and beer spills
