Is anyone familiar with the 2004 H210 and the rear 'cup holder / speaker mount' plastic crap insert that's inappropriately bottom mounted by only three screws to the rest of the boat? They're very flimsy pieces of molded 2mm plastic that have a cup holder and a hole in them to mount a 7 x 1/2" speaker. Except they're not mounted to the rest of the boat except at the bottom so when the stereo is on they rattle like crazy. I'd love suggestions on how to rectify this issue. Looking at most other boats, those manufacturers mount speakers to built-in wood or fiberglass speaker structures mounted directly to the hull.

This pic isn't my boat but I'm referring to the cup holder insert behind the cooler in this picture http://www.boattest.com/images-gallery/ ... cooler.jpg

Thanks!

Yes I hate that shit so when I replaced those speakers I cut a 1X2 to the appropriate length to provide bracing between the plastic and the fiberglass wall. I drilled a hole into the center of the 1X2 so that I could put the top 2 speaker mount screws into each one to hold them in place. I did not mount the other end of either 1X2 to the fiberglass. If you cut the length of the 1X2 correctly, it will hold itself in place with just the screw mounting the speaker. Be careful not to make the 1X2 too long or it will flex the plastic too much and either make it look ignorant or put too much stress on the bottom portion where the screws are at.

I'm facing the same issue now as I'm replacing the speakers back there. I was planning on doing almost exactly what pet575 did, but was going
To use some 4200 to fix it to the hull

It's ridiculous how 4Winns thought that wouldn't flop around underway or rattle at high volume.

pet575, run that by me again?

You cut a 1"x2" and used it as a horizontal brace from the speakers top mount screw to the inside of the boat hull but didn't fix it to the hull? I'm not sure I'm following you so maybe I'll have to pull that flimsy plastic thing out to get a better idea of what you're saying. Unless you've got a pic you can share....
