Well, in 2014 show me another modern sharp looking 20ft wood-less outboard bowrider that offers a 200hp engine (most like Monterey are only 150 max). At least the Glastron is the same company as FW.

As far as Volvo goes: Paint in the fuel pump and trim pump outside? No thanks. They are proven to fail prematurely.

None of these guys are laughing.....

PS like the Monty, bigger and more stylish than the OB offering from FW.
Now I'd still like to see a similar sized closed bow OB boat, don't boat builders get that people think about taking waves over the bow in a small boat...that they generously equip with a single 500 gph bilge pump??

1997 180 horizon Volvo Penta 4.3 Cobra SX. Spun out my outer pinion bearing. Took it in for repair, told rebuild will run over $3,000. I told the shop I could buy the same boat for $4,000. Why would this repair cost so much? Taking the boat elsewhere or attempting repair myself.

If your a first time boater....go to local boat ramp with no boat, drink a beer or two and watch people launching and retrieving boats. Its great entertainment and you see real quick the good, bad and ugly.

Or take your boat and go there, and provide entertainment for the old salts. I do so every chance I get, LOL.

Outdrives are expensive to repair, esp Volvo ones as good as they are. You might do better trading it for a rebuilt drive. The boat you could buy for $4000 could have any kind of problems. The need to pay the price for Volvo parts, pay the mechanic for his time, and make a profit to stay in business. It is a job that requires a high level of technical skill. Not like doing tune ups, brake jobs and oil changes.

Have you ever rebuilt a rear axle or transmission? If not then you are not doing this yourself, at least not successfully.

You don't want to trailer the boat with the front and rear snap on covers, you could damage them. I personally have not had any problems with my snap in carpet being in installed in the boat when towing 70mph.

Ok, i stayed away for 1 day and it seems i missed quite the conversations... i like this boat, i like the fuel injected v6, and i like that the engine and drive come with a 5 year warranty. The merc v6 they had were less power, i believe 190 hp. Sure i can go with a v8 but i dont wanna go broke filling the tank.

I dont want an outboard because i like the look and design of the i/o. I have done a million forum and google searches and most agree that merc and volvo are too similar to contest. You are all right about parts and down time being higher than mercs... I havent a clue, i havent had either. Paint on the inside of a pump? Bad idea. Trim pump under water? Im less worried about. My 30 year old rude has one sitting on the water line and so far no issues. I hope to never own a 2 stroke again lol!

Thanks for all the info folks. Thank you for clarifying the fuel injected part. It seems if i stick around ill provide some amusment for you old salts...

jimmy the muff,
Four Winns is adding a "Passion Red" for the 2015 H190RS models, which will be revealed next week at the dealer meeting in Cadillac FWIW.

Also, I always trailer with bow and cockpit cover on for longer trips. I tape the very front of the bow cover with 4" vinyl tape so wind does not get under it. Much nicer if you happen to run into a rain storm on your way to the lake, and you have soggy carpet when you get there. The tape is a trick I learned from a dealer, as that is how they send new boats to the boat shows, as well as to a new customer that picks up a boat, and has to trailer it home over a distance.
For very short trips to the lake, I do take the covers off.

I will also add, you picked a great boat and engine package for your new boat, you will love it !
