Also really nice, is that the same company that made the John Allmands?

Yes Lou, you are correct. These are custom built boats, not assembly line boats. You can have
them made and outfitted the way you want. Engines, type of brightwork, etc. Designed and built
to last a lifetime. This particular model, there is even a $5,000 discount off the $60K price if you want
to do the wiring yourself. Many options with a custom build like this.

When I was a kid (70's) my Dad bought a John Allmond 23' cuddy with OMC Stringer Chevy 350. Great boat. Sparse cabin but spacious cockpit. They were available with a fiberglass hard top also.

That boat is probably still on the water today.

Very true.

Here is a restored hardtop for-sale for nearly the same price as when it was new ($8500):

I like the one on Boattrader trying to be sold for 129k when they're only 59 new direct from John.

Wow does that look strange on a single axle trailer...is it that light? I really like that boat and it might be the biggest looking 23ft boat I've seen

Lou, if you are not into the Jenneau, or Beneteau outboard cuddies, you can always settle for an outboard cuddy already built in the Four Winns plant in Michigan.

The venerable Wellcraft 210 Coastal might be just what you need (after you win the lotto and sell your FW)
New they run just under $60K with 200 Yammie, slighty higher with 250hp. Looks like it's made for Long Island Sound :D

I was actually on that boat at the boat show, its really nice, I also like the dual console model (Sportsman) as well.
I was reminded again, of the beauty of an outboard, as I did my mid season maintenance, pulled the boat out, power washed the bottom and then scraped about a half a pound of disgusting barnacles out off the drive and out of the pivot housing. I'd post a pic but you all might barf. They are the very definition of gross, and to add insult to injury their rotting carcasses attract yellow jacks.....
This is after only 3.5 months in the water, if I left it in till October its a half day job to clean the crap out of the pivot housing. So you see the anti fouling paints for aluminum don't work too well LOL....
Honestly, that is the thing that will push me away from I/Os as I get older, if the paints actually worked it would be fine, I would just get another similar but newer model. Trailering here does not work, the roads are very narrow and hilly and if I had to trailer, I'd sell it and build up an old CJ for the beach or get a hot rod.

Apparently there's a dealer near me. When are these coming to the showroom?

Don't hold your breath. No date has been determined.

Quote:
Beneteau, Jeanneau and Rec Boat Holdings leaders explained to dealers last week that the Beneteau Group bought the company to penetrate the North American market in outboard segments. The company communicated its plan to continue investing in new-product development and providing dealer partners with a larger, stable foundation under the new ownership. Some Rec Boat Holdings dealers are looking to take on Beneteau and Jeanneau outboard brands after last week’s dealer meeting in Cadillac, Mich.

Euros love their cuddys. I wish they were more popular here, people just don't understand. The biggest selling point to me other than having an inside, is the fact you have a full sized sundeck for two people on the bow.

In my opinion, ( not that mine matters ), I think the seating on this is not so good. You have a seat next to the driver, but everything else looks like it is lower and behind him. May as well get a chauffeur to drive you around.

But that does improve visibility when pulling tubes and such.
