Are you replacing the stock sub? If not, I could probably take mine out and measure the clearance for you, but it might be a few days before I can do it.

Not replacing stock -- I didn't get the premium stereo package to begin with.

I want to put my sub where the stock one would go.

Do you have the little access hatch on the side by the sub? I don't think you would need to remove the sub to see...

I have been trying to find the depth of that Clarion sub online - with no luck. For 08, they are also using MTX subs now for some reason - which are only 4 and a half deep. That might be why they are using MTX over a Kicker (like the amp) - which is 5 and a half.

See? This is what happens when you can't ever get out on your boat. Somebody slap me. Yes, I do have the big deck plate right there, and the Clarion sub. I'll measure it for you, tonight if I'm up around the storage place.

I just called my local authorized Clarion dealer... it seems that the stock Clarion is 4.41 inches deep.

I'm not so sure that the JL is going to fit in the stock location... the MTX in the new 08's is a shallow sub as well.

HMMMMM

So what's behind the helm down at knee/lower leg level? Think it'd fit there?

That might be a great place for it. There's an access door in the bottom of the helm storage compartment, I would think you should be able to get access through that. And talk about an easy run to the amp!

I don't think there's much. I'll look tonight and post back. I need to go up there anyway to get some engine information off my generator.

Here's what in my helm storage:

I let him out to fetch me beers! He's 6' 5" Ahaha. Just shows you how big that is. I keep my bow cushions, 2 sleeping backs, a plastic storage container for paper plates etc and a rolled up air mattress down there. I love that storage.

Saopm, Do you recall the depth of that Clarion sub vs how much space there was between the end of the sub and the outside hull? Was it a tight fit, or was there lots of wiggle room?

Nice Mike.

We're talking about stereos. Mike comes in with a picture of a bunny with a pancake on it's head.

I'm left with a feeling of "WTF"?

:D
