For those headed up north, riverwalk grill in Elk Rapids is open again after rebuilding from the fire a couple years back. I haven't been there yet but have heard the new building is great.

Not sure if this vid has been posted yet or not.Torch 4th of July

That's great news! We ate there a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it's good food and cool atmosphere. We decided to make sure and include it in future cruise plans.....and then it burned down a week later  Thanks for the info

My favorite place to eat in Elk Rapids is Pearl's. Not on the water but a short walk away.

Well, I wouldn't say it's "boating" but I had a bunch of fun this weekend. Drove down to Marco Island for a BMW Charity event at the Marriott. Stayed there Saturday night and today (Sunday) hung out with an old friend in Naples then drove across the state to South Beach and had dinner at Sushisamba then went home.

Yes, I drove 2 hours across the state to eat dinner on Lincoln Rd and another 3.5 home. Why not?? :D

The room was the "Sunset Corner Suite". OH MY GOD are you kidding me best $$$ I've ever spent on a hotel room.

Our 2001 265 Sundowner on the Muskegon River upstream of the Hardy Dam last Sunday. We sure have not had enough time on the water this year.

Wrapping up the 3day weekend. Saturday golf with the boys, football at buddies house on the course post golf.

Sunday Funday on the lake. Friends brought their 2 year old daughter for her first boat ride ever. Sheets told they are going to the pool. She realized that she was lied to and was pissed at first. Then saw geese and wind and other boats. 10 min later after a leasier "fast idel" ride to the sand bar from the marina she has wormed up to boats and enjoying herself. She loved playing in the sand and jumping on the waves that came ashore.

I saw a few FW over the weekend. Far distance 90shorison or sundowner body lines.

Then another newer FW

Found a baby turtle at the island.

Parked at the marina today next to a searay exact same year and same color as my buddies.

Hey Cap'n, did you make it to power island?

We decided not to make the trip to TC but instead make a shorter trip to Little Travers Bay. The weather was weird anyway. Wind was blowing from the east onshore, water outside Charlevoix channel was calm and beautiful. A mile north the wind was coming straight out of the north with 3-5 footers. :x
We tucked tail and headed back to lake Charlevoix for swimming and lunch at the Landing.

Labor Day Weekend... You'll note, some people wearing their life jackets... No, it's not because they're trying to be safe boaters (they are, but can be without the PFDs), it's because, in the Corps of Engineers infinite wisdom for our lake, to attempt to prevent further deaths, they came up with a 5 boat tie up rule (not law)... We are not allowed to tie more than 5 boats together without a permit. Said permit is free, and relatively easy to obtain, however, with a permit, all subjects on boats in the tie up, must wear their PFD's.. So, when some of these pics were taken, a Corp boat was headed into the cove, as soon as they leave, the PFD's come back off. Normally, we don't mess with the permit, and tie as many boats as we have together, and if they come in, split them up into 5's as they're coming in... As soon as they leave, we pull them back together... It's a dumb ass rule, and the poor saps that have to enforce it, generally don't like it any more than we do. This weekend, we didn't want to have to deal with splitting up, so we just played their game....

TFD2001 are you sure the rafting law is still in place. One of my friends told me that there was a law suit against the rafting law & the Corp lost. We had 8 boats tied up in Skull cove that day & they didn't even give us a 2nd look.

They asked for our permit on Saturday and have asked us to break up on numerous occasions this year. I like to think I'm pretty in the know on our lake, and have not heard what you mentioned. On Sunday, corp boat was occupied by a female crew who were tossing out frisbies to kids wearing their PFDs and ignored a 6 boat tie up though..

Went out on the ski's before the 70% chance of rain hit, was up at 6am this morning. Went on the Econ River. Started at the star in the upper right and ended at the scribble on the left. There was a down tree we couldn't get across otherwise we would have kept going a bit further to where 419 crosses over.

Image

Image

Pictures didn't do it justice. We forgot our GoPro's so no video. It would have been AMAZING

Image

Took the GF with me :)

Image

Image

Back up towards the boat ramp where the star is there's this redneck bar/restaurant. For lunch I ate a gator meat burger. With bacon of course.

Image

After lunch we went out to Lake Harney to the north. Big storms were rolling in and make it to the ramp and packed up just in time for the thunderstorms.

Image

It was an amazing day for sure!! The Econ is nothing but around 20-100ft wide winding river, it's jet ski heaven.
