Last week, here in the UK (Poole) got the forecast wrong, came back in a gale force8 (50mph winds) 6ft swell + 2-3ft wind chop, into to wind speed no more than 6-8mph & we got very very wet!! At least a new purchase Sundowner 205 worked quite well in the conditions.

You may call this as you wish BS or not, but until you experience Mother Nature in full fury you just cant understand it.. ocean going sailors have many tales to tell..

Sailing a 40 foot yacht back from the States some years ago and sailed into a mother of a storm caused by wind sheer of two fronts. 2 drogues out, no sail, but doing 8 knots. Cant tell you what size the waves were but I will try describe it... the boat was 40 foot long, when standing at the helm my safety lanyard was holding me up like a bungee cord. The wave and white water above the boat was about 20 feet up and washed the deck, about the same distance behind the boat, Best guess about 60 foot + waves. We went below, made sure everything was secure, put on life suits, and held on. Longest 8 hours ever....

Remember the 5 Ps' Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance, we sailed home bruised and shaken but safe. ( oh yes and scared Sh!tless) Have respect for the weather when heading out and plan ahead.

Hey Ray --- I am like you --- I wouldn't want to talk about the biggest waves. =They were not in the H240, but in the last boat which was smaller.

We did take a wave like you did going out the palm beach inlet -- we took about 1-2 feet of green water over the bow. it ended up with 3-4 inches throughout the whole boat interior. That is when it is nice to have the interior scuppers that I have on my boat back by the batteries and the water tank. I assume yours has the same two interior drains?
I have permanently removed that speaker right in front of the batteries and opened up that area a bit so the water could get from the interior to the drains easier.

talk soon -- Dale
