What are you up to today

It's a status symbol. Since my divorce in January I've set a timeline of things I need to get done since I never could being married. 2014 was the year to fix credit, buy a car, fix teeth, get amex card, LV wallet, and buy house. The jet ski was a bonus. I've accomplished all my goals except buy a house but that's not a fault of mine, I've put offers on the table but I keep getting overbid by investors. I still have a month left but I'm not going to "settle".

Maybe it seems childish but imagine living from the age of 24 til 32 years old married to a woman you haven't been in a relationship with since 10 months after you said "I do". Imagine not being able to keep money in the bank. Not being able to buy anything. Stuffing money in a shoebox, driving a car you had since you were 23, and renting the same house since you moved out because anything and everything on record that you purchase is half hers and it could go away any minute. I'm trying my best to catch up and yeah maybe I spoil myself here and there. I should own my first home and have it almost paid off by now. I'm so behind.

Its tough out there ric. I had good training for self denial. Parents were raised during the Great Depression and despite the fact that both grandfathers were employed then (dad's father was a custom design jeweler, mom's father came from Italy and set up a shirt and dress factory in Queens NY). They had a very different idea about money and how to handle it than people do today. The war was a time of great sacrifice and people today really do not understand that, except some immigrants. We grew up in the sixties, a period of relative prosperity and opportunity, followed by the 70s, inflation, gas shortages, high interest rates etc. Then for me 5 years in grad school getting my Ph.D. having no money and accumulating debt all that time. This taught me to be able to save money and do without things as my grandparents, and parents had done. I have 2 vehicles (98 Jeep and 98 Subaru) that are going on 17 years old, the newest (07 Jeep) is going on 8 years old and the boat is going on 27. However the house has been paid off for going on 9 years and my son will graduate from college with NO debt. That's the way we did it but each has to find there own way....

Yesterday would have been an amazing day to boat, it was 80's and sunny but I was at a holiday party.

Highs of 85 today, will be highs of 50's Wednesday, 70's this weekend.

Had to wait til she willfully wanted to divorce me. If I would have fought her in court she would have bankrupted me for fun and hid every asset she owned under a trust.

do as my buddy and sell all your shit to your friend. buddy sold the house for $50 to his buddy and never told the woman. $150k 31 foot contender center console for $500. sold the cars to his cousin for next to nothing. kept all the shit at his house like nothing was happening. And sent all his money to a bank in the bahamas. Then divorced her with his prepaid lawyer. he had $5k to his name. He gave her 100% of his assets and kept his clothes. Then after finalized he got all his shit back from his buddies..

THEIR is always a way to keep your shit. You just have to be smarter than her.

She has millions and bipolar. You don't poke the beast with a stick while it's sleeping. I came out with my dignity and she paid for everything. It could have been WAY worse!!

We are just supposed to get rain here, band of snow supposed to stick inland 20-30 miles....Had my buddy come over and we shrink wrapped the boat last week. Tires are off and put away in the basement for the winter. Now to think about taking the kids skiing this weekend! Or putting up tree and lights. Or both!
