Has anyone changed the battery switch for one that can use either 1 or 2 or both. Is there a reason why I shouldn't do this? On my last boat I had a start battery and a deep cycle for anchoring.

If your boat already has dual battery banks, then what style of switch does it have if it doesnt have a combined position? Installing a 2nd battery bank is not a huge mod, but its more than just a switch.

It has the original on-off switch with no 1-2- both option. It is an easy change but I wonder why the factory only put in the simpler switch. Where they going cheap or is there a reason for no option but on or off?

I found the answer, it all happens automatically so no need to manually switch from start to house battery's. Fancy boat!

My v258 had seperate batteries for house and starting. So the house battery could not be used for starting the way it was wired. That changed real quick.

Ok, so your boat does indeed have 2 battery banks, but just a simple 2 post ON/OFF in line on the main cranking battery cable. Sounds like its using a diode isoloator. This is a simple and effective system, but does have a couple of cons. 1, is that you can get up to a .7V drop across the diode pack. 2, you cannot use the house bank for an emergency starting battery.

You can rewire/reconfigure the system and install a traditional dual-bank switch in place of the original on/off. Requires some cabling along with the switch.

I've got exactly the same setup with my switch and yes it's automatic. Looks like this correct?

Yes,

That's the set up on my 2009 278
Both the starter and systems batteries are charged via a splitter ( the blue box on the engine bulkhead; rated @ something like 85A for gas engines, 140A for diesel ones).
Normally, the 2 batteries are not connected together.
There is an override switch on the dash/ a relay bolted to the starter on/ off switch, that allows the systems battery to be connected to the starter battery in an emergency.
The factory fitted stereo upgrade takes the power to the amp from the starter battery switch via a 70A breaker ( as the systems breaker cannot handle that load).

I'm rewiring those circuits this winter with 2 systems batteries and a separate off-1-2-both switch for the systems batteries as well.

You may have that particular switch ( which I agree, is great; well made). The circuitry behind it is I suspect different !
