I think some basics need to be asked:

1. Do you have insurance?
2. Did the other guy have insurance?
3. Where did the 32k estimate come from?
4. How did it split the shower/head compartment, but not the hull?
5. Are you going to reply to anyones comments/questions? (3 comments in 3 1/2 years kinda tells me you're not much into the whole question/answer thing).

I think the best question for this thread is, where did O.P go? He doesn't really seem to be part of this thread. Lots of question no answers.......

My thoughts exactly. That's why I quit posting on this thread until the OP responds. (OK, I'm making 1 exception right now) :?

hi all , sorry it's been a while had to get the wife fixed and then the boat, got the boat back, looks perfect, great job with the gel coat, I put the bathroom back together and had it re-gelcoated, new rub rail, buffed the entire boat ,new stripes, looks brand new total cost $20464, initial estimates were high, insurance paid all. accident reconstruction, we found that while traveling at about 5mph ,the bow was up blocking the nav light that sits on the plate where the spotlight is, so a boat lower than the 248 could not see it , plus he was going 30mph at night with no nav lights on, way too fast, it was going to be head on but I turned at the last second so he hit my side tipping his boat so his prop cut up under my boat, lucky he didnt flip over, must have been a hell of a ride in his boat, so I got a bigger nav light, led with 2 mile range. very impressed with this boat to take a shot like that and not much damage, very well built, very solid, will post pics when i get them. got the wife back too, she had back and knee injuries from bouncing across the cabin from 1 couch to the other then onto the floor, thanks for your posts and concern. Mike

I have mentioned this before, but now that the damages have been repaired and your happy with results you should consider requesting "diminished value" compensation. The carrier has already signed on for responsibility and most policies have diminished value clauses.

The major damages speaks for itself. In short they may pay you now for future loss of value.
