Hi Guys, been grinding hard on this project boat.. running into a few questionable items and a question here about the pipes that the risers bolt to where it routes the exhaust down to the transom. The Y-pipe i guess.

do these typically rot out or need replacement like the manifolds and risers?

boat is a 1999 328 with big blocks. Thanks!

The y pipes I have seen are aluminum. I think the inside is anodized. Its still possible that an aluminum part can corrode. If the y pipe corrodes through you would have a direct leak in to the bilge. If you are in salt water I would recommend that the inside be looked at occasionally. The boat will need to be out of the water and it might be a good thing to check when inspecting or changing exhaust risers.
