This is one way where the older boats were much better, you could take out all the wood dividers and the engine is wide open. Now they have a compulsion with surrounding the engine with un-needed fiberglass that's all attached to the top cap.
Luckily, the lower fiberglass section where the lid attaches can be removed with four screws but that doesn't help the lack of side clearance. I don't even have fat arms and it was really tight getting the drain plugs and the oil filter. Still, I would gladly have the tight fit with V8 performance rather than a 4-cylinder and more room
