Rick, yes that's what Lou thought as well. Checked it yesterday everything is in order.

Lou, I tried to take the throttle handle off while I was on the water. Took out the five screws but it would not come out in any way, seemed to be one more thing holding it in the hull, never figured it out, hopefully my mechanic can show me.

I would try leaving that cover off while someone shifts the remote control while you watch what it does at the drive. If there is no movement then it has to be the cable or the remote control itself (more likely the cable broke at the control end)....

Roger that, I was by myself that day so no way to do both. I wish I had brought my goPro because I could have set it at the outdrive and looked at the screen on my phone. Might have to start carrying it with me everywhere I go. None the less Mechanic will be on it this week. I'll post the results.

thanks,

Chris,

Can you tell me what size those bolts are that hold the shift plate cover on?

Can't swear to it...want to say they were 5/8 or 9/16.

Chris, some info for you on the throttle control handle for removal etc....

The unit with the cables attached that acutally does the shifting comes out from the back only.

To remove, you need to do the following:

through the access panel (Hopefully you have one!) Disconnect the connector that the three wires from the tilt switch go to (Grey, triangular shaped connector) - then remove the three wires from the connector itself - small flat screwdriver needed (very small markings of A-B-C each side so note which colour wire to which letter) - then put the lever in full throttle forward position, and use an allen key to remove the small grub screw right at the bottom of the handle.
The handle should then come off, and you can feed the wire through the small hole.

Then there are three machine screws that fit through and bolt the rear unit to the plastic cover at the front. (Through the circular bit) Once these are removed you can move the back of the unit down, then take the two screws out that hold the upholstered panel onto the boat and then you should be able to take that off - there's a big letterbox piece taken out behind this so you can access the cables etc. better (assuming you've not a small access panel by the drivers right knee, like mine!)

The four or five screws that hold the black panel on just do that - the unit is secured to the panel by the three machine screws.
Cables are held on with a small machine screw and bolt, and a split pin/dowel at the other end - fairly straight forward.

Good luck with the replacement, hopefully it's a broken cable and not a broken shifter/Outdrive....
