I took this old boat out today. The engine was rebuilt before I purchased it. I had the distributor replaced recently.
The boat runs very well, except a couple of things. When I started it, it had a hard time turning over. Once started, it wouldn't idle well unless I gave it some power. It also died when I slowed down to close to neutral. It ran great out in the open. However, I couldn't get it to shift into neutral. It seemed liked I either had to be going forward a little or going backward. And at times it was difficult to switch to reverse from forward - I had to kind of work it forward and backward to get it to go.
When we slowed to much just as I approached the dock, it died again.
Any ideas what this is and what it will cost me to get it fixed?
