funny thing was...I missed boating so much that a steal of a deal came up for a 93 Malibu Echelon the year before I got the Horizon fixed. Guy lived in the house behind me, our boats just on either side of the fence from each other...he had always been egging me to buy his boat, his kids no longer interested in water stuff, had only 250 hours on it (but he wanted 11k for it at the time). That winter a branch fell off his tree and ripped his boat cover, he never noticed it during the winter season and the boat filled up with water to just above carpet line (but still below motor..he forgot to remove drain plugs)...he told insurance and they totaled it. But all that happened was some of the carpet came up and just needed to be glued back down.. he bought it back from ins for 2k and he turned around and sold it to me for the same. I have since glued it and cleaned it up and now he wishes he coulda kept it...lol, needless to say, camping is a lot funner now!

years ago I was in the middle of lake cruisin along...bam! hit a submerged log..thrashed prop, had a spare, swapped out and thought nothing else of it....next week, cruising along and the boat just stops, wasn't goin into gear, got towed in and figured that the "innards" got jacked up the week before and it finally out right busted..took it to a boat shop and they tell me I need a new outdrive...I priced them out and at the time they were going for like 7-8k, so i let it sit in the backyard for many years, only using it for music when we had bbq's :) , so fast forward to early last year, I was talkin to my machinist who was boring out my truck block (for a stroker project) and I mentioned to him about my issue...he tells me to call this hole in the wall boat shop owned by a friend of his and ask him whether the boat was toast or not.... so took it to him and he calls me to say yup.. outdrive was toast, BUT, he could fix it..I asked him how much (thinkin the worst),,,and he says "parts and labor...$1000"...what? I sat on this thinkin it was gonna be alot more...a week later, it was done..took it for a ride the next day with my wife and 7 year old who didn't even know we had a boat..lol...

Epic revival! Nice!

Picked up this 1990 Johnson outboard from a tag sale. Cover says 9.9 but it has been upgraded to 15HP by the PO. They kept the 9.9 cover so they could be "legal" where they took the boat in Maine.

This is going to really push our little aluminum boat that uses a 5 HP Game Fisher right now!

Bought a cockpit cover today. After 4 seasons of taking off the back cover, windows, roof, and bow cover almost every time we go boating, I'm hoping that removing this single cover and bow cover will be faster and easier.

Finally sold our 245 Sundowner today. Happy and sad at the same time.

On our way to the west side of Michigan and hope to finally get on the new boat. We've only used it on Memorial Day weekend so far.

Should be a decent weekend for it... Though the forecast just changed from "around 1 foot" waves to "1-3 foot waves"...

Very windy today in west Michigan but fairly warm and turned out sunny. Had a condo association meeting in the morning so our boating was only a quick run down the lake. But we did grill dinner on the swim platform grill while docked at the marina.

Forecast looks like a better day tomorrow. We drove out to Holland State Park to watch the sunset. A fair amount of boats were going in and out, and bouncing the whole way! Saw one guy in a small boat get towed right before he hit the South pier! He nearly lost his boat!

I did not cut the granite, but where I worked for 7 years did. My old boys hooked me up. New 60/40 SS oversized 16ga sink, oversized strainer basket drain, Delta Brushed SS wand faucet, marble and glass back splash, cutting board. I did all of the install work.
Touch up and fresh pain this week.
