I can read the label: says www.strut-your-stuff-here.com but that url does not work. I see there is an ebay store by the same name. Is this where you bought them? Would you recommend them?

YES. i got them off of the eBay store.. this will be i think the 4th set of struts that i have bought from them over the years. the black ones i HAD in the old engine compartment were from them in BLACK.. this is my first set of SS plus the single for the ski locker.. I am happy with the quality so far and they are good people to work with.. they took 2 days to get to me.. and that is fast. i have yet to have an issue. the others i have are perfect. BUT NOT SS so with he upgrades i wanted SS

thanks. having the skills to do it myself is cost effective way to make my boat good as new and cost fractions of a brand new boat..

This is not the first boat that i have overhauled.

Last night i laid some more glass in the rear bench. Then after it was set i pulled fairing fill on a 1" radius in all of the joints. These joints will get a sand and then the 2nd layer of glass will go on followed by fairing compound over all of the interior to make it nice and smooth ready for paint.. At lunch i will lay some glass inside the speaker box section.

rest of week plan: get the bench as close to paint as possible by weekend for a primer shoot.

weekend plan: mount the rear hinges for the hatch, foam template for the hatch, transfer to the hard wood ply, build the under side rib structure supports for the hatch, gunnel drip rails.

Overall i had a decent break but as you can see I am back at it.. I have to get all of the glass and cockpit work done and painted so that i can move onto the UPHOLSTERY...

Last night i played out a continuous top coat of glass inside the storage compartment. Cut edge corners and 2 end cap pieced simply because this was the most efficient use of the glass for no waist loss.

Image

8 small mixes @ 9:45 PM because of the temps.

Image

this morning all hard and trimmed out ready for a hit with eh DA to flatten a few drips that i could not prevent and a scuff for the finish coat of surfacing compound.

Image

she is solid inside the storage compartment. the speaker box will get finished off tonight with a top cap of 5/8 and glass on the interior of the box.
Then as follows:
under side of hinge 1x3 support
top cap 1/4 ply attached for a seamless lip and covering of the sub box.
flip the bench upside down and do a full sheet of glass drape and seam lap glass on the entire exterior.

i can see the end result, and i am so ready to share the end vision with everyone.

+1

I do like my Sunsport seating much better than my previous boat which had doghouse engine cover with 1 seat on each side. If you sat in one of those seats, you felt like you were in time-out sitting in the corner.

I'd love to have it converted, but most likely would hate to see the cost to have it all custom made along with modifying the side panels for the larger sun pad. Still may have it quoted just so that I know if someday I replace the interior.

this layout was key when i was looking at boats. I looked at a couple Sea Ray, Regal, FW dog house style boats and i could not live with that BS.

I do kinda regret not grabbing this one sea ray Day cruiser. It was 25 feet and has a big block, the port side was a head and sink, starboard was a twin size day bed, sun pad bench seat. NEEDED this amount of work. and i did not want to do a restore at that time. Well i did not intend to rebuild this boat but when you find rot you fix it and once i had so much out it was only logical to customize this boat how i wanted. Love this model and the new layout. i think it will be great.

If you can could you verify something for me, trying to determine which heads are on the 5.0 marine engines like ours vs. what I have been able to research.

Looking to see if you have these 3 bars cast into your heads or not, mine do not.
Image

Also we are able to gain an additional 30-40hp by simply changing the upper and lower intakes to the GT40 style that came on the mid to late 90's Explorers with the 5.0. It is a direct swap on and intakes as a set can be had for less then $300. I am still working on if the ECU can compensate for the added air flow since we do not have oxygen sensors and the ECU runs in open loop. Will have that answer by the end of this week.

I am a gearhead and just can't leave things alone I guess, lol. ie. Plus just happen to be an Engineer for Ford :D

I will look tonight..

Yes i knew about the Intake. I have been looking at the local LKQ pick n pull lots for one. As for the computer that is the main reason i have not done it yet. also i have been more focused on the interior renovation. as the inteake swap is not hard at all.

I have a 70mm Throttle body on mine and so far i have had no issues in tune. now i also did not notice any gains. but heck it was probably only a couple HP so not blatantly noticeable.. BUT i would love another 30-40.. i will take all that i can get.

I wish that the intake and spark arrestor filter was not butted up to the risers as i would love a better performance air filter that would not be as restrictive as the one i have now.. the only solution i have thought of is to use a 90 at the manifold pointing the TB forward to the bow and this would allow for alternate filter.. i still have to check clearances.

I also have a full Serpinteen assembly that i plan to swap and convert front he V belts.. again have been focused in other areas.
