Hey Everyone,

I've had my 245 Vista for about 3 years now she ran around with a aluminum prop and spun a hub this year I think its a 15 x 17 but I can't make out the numbers.

Currently shes running around with a Viper SS 14.75 x 19 (got it from a friend for cheap) which is great for cruising I stay on play from 17mph - 33mph (WOT)

BUT I washout at WOT

I cruise anywhere from 25- 30 mph if i floor it.. It will do a hole 3mph (33)..... Then you back it off you feel the barrels quiet down on the carb and she stays steady.. so evidently she needs a smaller prop to bring up the WOT back to normal.

The viper ss prop is like new and runs great just to much prop *** My RPM gauge just broke this year go figure two things at once so thats why im not using RPMS in this whole thing lol***

So Does anyone know what prop ran on 1993 Four Winns vista 245 :?: ... Stock cause im pretty sure my WOT on aluminum was around 41-42mph gps

Four Winns website has catalog and Fast Facts.

Looks like it was either 15 1/2 x 15 or 15x17 depending on which version of the 351 it had.

I would stop using that 19p immediately! Running with too much pitch can cause serious damage to your engine, especially with a heavy boat (aka Vista). Too much pitch can cause overheating of the intake valves, which then become distorted and lose most or all compression. Look up "Tuliped Valve" or "Valve Tuliping" for more information.

Here is a good article about what can happen if you are "overpropped"

Good move. I found that my '88 actually had the wrong prop on it when I got it back in 2002. The max rpm was only 4200 and after checking I found it had a 14.5x19. Checking in FW's fast facts, I found that my generation H-200 with the 4.3 V6 is supposed to use a 15x17, the V8 models took the 19 pitch prop. After I changed it I got 4800 which is in the range it should be. I could probably even go as far as a 15.5x15, although that might put me over the 5000 max rpm point...
Having a prop with too much pitch is going to really make the engine labor pulling the boat up on plane, like trying to tow a trailer with a 2.73:1 rear end gear.
