Seat cover stitching unraveling

My 2006 Horizon 240 has several seams in the vinyl seats that are coming apart. The threads appear to be rotten. Would you replace the vinyl or just try to get the seams restiched?

Bring one of the seats to an upholster. If the vinyl is not brittle it can be restitched, he should be able to tell you after seeing it.

Or get an upholstery needle and some thread and do it yourself...

Unfortunately my problem was worse than I thought. The stitching was bad in numerous other places on the rear seats, sun pad, and front seats, all over really except for the 2 captain chairs. I had the owner of Lake Norman Tops and Interiors look at the upholstery (recommended by my dealer). His judgement was that the 6 places where the seams had separated as in the pictures above were just the beginning and that there would be continual separations in the near future. So, I am having all of it removed (except for captain chairs) and resewn; also while at it, all the existing white vinyl replaced with new white vinyl. He stated that FW used nylon stitching and he will use all polyester stitching that he states will hold up better than the nylon. Cost is $2,500.

Hope it's worth it to you Joe. My Vinyl is almost 20 years old, I live in the desert and keep my boat in outdoor storage. I do keep her covered and I treat my vinyl every time I take her out. I have had to repair the stitching at least 20 times in the past four years. I have spent about $10 on needles and good thread...and a lot of my time...But I haven't hit $2500 yet. Make sure to show us some before and after pics if you can.

I have been using Lexol cleaner, then conditioner easily available from WalMart so far working well!
