Hey now, give me a little credit. :D These are just two straight metal rods with black caps in each end, there are loose and about 18-24" long. The boat came with a cover so I'm guessing they are for it.

I thought I had already looked in the ski locker for the light but just went back and checked again and it's in there, thanks!

I'm thinking they are supports for your cover. See if there is a snap on them. Mine fit into sleeves on the underside of the cover and a single snap holds them in place.

Those wouldn't be for the original factory cover. They sound like prop rods. Do you have the power lift option on the engine cover?

You know, I think I may have those too, and have never used them and haven't seen them in years. If no one else comes up with it I can look in the owners manual if you don't have one.

Ok, figured it out. They are sunpad/lounge supports. And now we all know.

I had your answer 3 days ago, but for some reason I had trouble registering for the site. Glad you got the Mystery poles figured out.
Funny story about your boat...
We sold our 30' cruiser in September, hoping to downsize. I was not in a hurry to replace it, figuring I had all winter. In early October, my daughter sent me a facebook link of a local guy selling a 2004 Horizon 230. It had all the features I wanted, although I felt his price was a tad on the high side, so I looked around and the only boat I could find that was comparable, was yours... and the price was better.

I spoke with the people at the dealership, and I didn't feel they were very forthcoming with details. All they would tell me was the boat was "like new". I knew that it was 10 years old and common sense tells me that nothing that's "like new" wouldn't really be like new. So I passed on it because I didn't want to drive from Ohio to Oklahoma, and take a chance.

At the end of the day, I bought the local one, and have been happy so far, as I'm still going through it...

I can help you with one thing though. I have the same damage to the blue striping along the top of the gunnel. It's a 3/16" stripe and if you google 3M Schotchcal #70509, you can buy it online. it runs about $10 for 40'.

I'm following along closely because our carpet is pretty tired, and just this week I decided to go with Gatorstep or something similar...

Don

That explains why we've never used them.

Hey Don! Thanks for the info on the stripe I will order it and give it a shot. I guess I will just try and run a new long band of it across the top to help keep it from looking like random pieces slapped on there.

My boat, while not "Like New" is in really good shape for being 10 years old. They cleaned the exterior of the boat pretty good, but inside I have been doing a lot of cleaning in all the compartments, under seats etc. The interior was in surprisingly good shape with just one area that needed some attention and then one other cushion that has some smallscuffs, not rips in it.

I think you would have found the dealership hard to deal with all the way from Ohio. I live about 2 hours away from the dealership and it was still a pain. They were not very customer service oriented there. We came up and looked at the boat on a Saturday but had to come back to do a lake test as they did not test on Saturdays. They knew we were coming up and said they would have the boat inside and cleaned up for us. I'm pretty sure all they did was spray the boat with a hose and call it good. They had a small list of items they were supposed to take care of when I came back to test/buy the boat and only did a couple, I ultimately decided to just take the boat and deal with the rest myself instead of making another trip back up there. All in all I feel like I got a really nice boat at a good price. So thanks for leaving it for me :)

Our carpet is really not in too bad of shape, I think if you ran a carpet cleaner over it it would look pretty good. I'm not sure if we will just store the carpet or try to sell it but we are definitely going with Gatorstep just to give the boat a fresh look inside.

Don't ever fold the sunpad out? That was one of the features we really liked about the boat. I'm looking forward to my wife keeping those tan lines away back there 8)

We've used them a few times but never needed any additional support. And we haven't used them much because until recently we've spent all our time swimming and/or dealing with kids. We're only just now at the point where it'll be the two of us.

I've got pretty much every nook and cranny cleaned up, even the stuff we will probably never clean again. Got the new cooler in, seat-back is back in from being repaired, & new foam for the windshield seal is put on.

My Gatorstep template kit came in today, so now I get to have making that. It will be a lot of work to do the template + plus install once I get the finished kit but I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Cool! I'm watching for your gatorstep project. We thought we'd wait and try to get another year out of our carpet, but if the price is right, and it looks as good as I think it will. We may just go ahead and do it now.

The Gatorstep will be terrific. For anyone with this generation of 230/240 who needs to replace their carpet and wants to stay with carpet, the 2006 carpet looks nicer than the original. One of our former members made the switch on his 260.

Today and tomorrow is in the 70s. Killing me not to take it out to the lake this weekend!

Anyway, I've still been working on some little stuff here and there. I've replaced the white plastic cup holders with stainless ones. They look a lot better IMO. The only one I can't get out is the one for the driver at the helm. It sits right under the side cushion and you can't life it straight out like the others. Trying to decide if it is worth it to try and figure out how to get that side cushion off.

I've started my Gatorstep template but have to wait for them to send me more material, somehow I was only sent half of what was supposed to be sent. The new front bow cushion from Four Winns will be here on Tuesday. I paid $142 shipped to my door in case anyone is interested.

Thanks to Don's info on the striping I've gone around the boat and cleaned up all the nicks, it really made a huge difference. If you are really looking for it you can see it but it is hard to spot if you are not trying to find it.

Here are a few random pics.

Good info on the Scotchcal. If you order the Four Winns version, it's the full-width (~11/16") tape with the thin silver stripe already added to it. It could be useful to have some of both on hand actually.

That's good info Mike. There must be a slight difference between 2004 and 2005, because there's no silver on mine, just blue and white. I'll have to check the parts book again to see what it says. I'm also having trouble sourcing the blue gel coat patch paste through spectrum color. I just need a small amount and all I could find from there was quarts and gallons...

I wanted to make sure my mechanicals are good to go before I start with the cosmetics. I pulled the drive yesterday and found a bellows full of water, and a bad gimbal bearing. So that was today's project. I'll get it back together on Monday then I can start with the cosmetics..

Formulax, nice job on the template layout. Are you doing the walk thru as well?
