I'm hoping to have a boat-mounted Racor spin-on filter installed on my 2015 H180 OB sometime this summer. I'm going to have my dealer do it because I don't like messing with gas lines, but I'd like to learn about placement options before talking to them. I've read conflicting info about the plastic bowl version of the Racor filter. Some say it can't be mounted in an enclosed space PERIOD, while others say it can't be in an enclosed space for
inboards and I/Os only.
I'd prefer to have it concealed, if possible for my
outboard.
Does it have to be mounted out in the open on a wall of my engine well? (shown here)

Or can it be mounted to the engine well wall inside the starboard seat compartment? (shown below on a similar boat) Maybe it would be too hard to reach the filter under there. Unfortunately, I can't check it now because my boat is far away.

Please understand,
I'm not looking to break any rules or be unsafe. Just trying to limit the amount of ugly stuff I have to look at.
Thanks.
