Just want to say hello to all.

I was never around boats growing up but I just bought my first boat, actually it's on order a H200SS. I hope to learn a lot of information about boating here on the site.

I'm located in Northern VA

Nice boat choice! What's the scoop on it? Colors/options? When will you take delivery?

Welcome!

[quote="cougarcruiser"]Nice boat choice! What's the scoop on it? Colors/options? When will you take delivery?

It is sunset orange, just some little small options like the rubber mat, flag pole holder, compass. Give me a summer on the water and I plan to add the wakeboard tower.

I had to order it for the fact I wanted the 4.3 MPI and not the 5.0.

The delivery will be somewhere around the 15th of May.

Welcome aboard!. You would love Horizon.. Is any reason you went with 4.3 and not 5.0?

The compass is an option? Ok, that's worrisome.

Do yourself a favor and look up the Northern Virginia Power Squadron. http://www.usps.org/localusps/nva/

They host basic boater safety classes and there's one coming up right now!

Course: The Squadron Boating Course
(8 sessions, Mondays & Thursdays)
Start Date: 21 Apr 2008 End Date: 15 May 2008
Time: 7:00 – 9:00 PM
Location: McLean Community Center

The wife and I took it together and it was very worthwhile. Even if you think you 'know the water' it's worth it as a refresher. The group has lots of members with a pretty wide range of experience and boats. We belong and I've found it useful to learn a few things from fellow members.

I don't know much about boats but after talking to a few people the 5.0 would only help with top end speed. They said once pulling a boarder or tube I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

I also took it for the fact it will be a little better on the pocket with gas prices.

Ha i guess the compass is an option it didn't come with one, I have only been on the water a few times and thought maybe I need to compass.

Thanks for the info on the boaters safety classes. I will see how often they offer it because the one you mention is not good for me as I'm taking leave and going home for a few weeks. I took a boaters exam online, and it was very helpful to me.

The in-person classes really are better. You get the added insight of the instructor. Rick Baker does a heck of a good job with the NVPS class. Yeah, they cover the same material as the online stuff but you also miss out on the questions asked in the class. Sometimes hearing someone else's questions make you think of your own. If you ask the NVPS folks they may know when other classes are scheduled. They're not the only ones that do the classes. There's also a group up in Rockville, as well as all over the country.

You do yourself and your fellow boaters a favor being more informed.

Wow, an orange 200ss for a first boat? Geez, talk about hitting the ground running or the water at redline I guess in this case. Sweet rig, and nice choice in color. Was so close to an orange one myself, and red, and black and yellow :? Congrats.

With my budget that was the biggest boat I can afford and still have all my other toys also. I have a 2005 Gixxer 750. Plus my Titan and at 26 years old let me tell you insurance is not cheap and I'm also single.

So what color did you decide seeing you were torn between all the colors???????

Decide? You mean like finally committing? I didn't. I did order an all black one optioned out like an SS but it isn't supposed to be delivered for another few weeks. I can't gaurantee I still won't leave with an orange SS. Or a black one. Red and yellow are still a possibility. I am really trying hard to stop the inventing justifications on a 240 as well. I need phscological help but I'm OK with that.
Don't tell my dealer. He he may decide my sale is more trouble than its worth. :)
