I need to replace the power adapter / inverter.
I have replaced the wiring and it has been working fine.
All of a sudden last weekend it stopped cooling on DC.
AC works fine. DC it will run for about 30 seconds and then suddenly the inverter will drop power.
I have tested the power input and it stays right at 13.1 volts. The output however starts at 13.1 volts and is pulling about 3 amps.
All of a sudden the output voltage starts dropping and the current starts going up. When output gets to 10.5 volts and 4 amps current it shuts down. Again, input is staying right at 13.1 volts the entire time.
I am guessing something inside has gone out.

It is a Waeco fridge and has the MPS-35 power adapter.
It appears that the MPS-35 is no longer available.
I can buy a new MPS-50 for $73.99 + shipping.

Question - has anyone else replaced theirs with the MPS-50 and are there any issue.

Right now, I have it hard wired to the house battery (of course fused) and it is cooling great. And of course the battery charger is on to maintain the battery. I could just leave it as is but would like to put it back correct.

Thanks

Update.

I found some info on the searay forum where several people had replaced theirs with the 50 model and it worked great. Seems like the 35 is minimal power output.

So I went ahead and ordered one.

Will update once installed.

I installed the new MPS-50 model. Works great.
I did notice that upon startup and for the first minute or so it is pulling about 4.2 amps on 12 volt input. But it is cooling great.
That is more than the MPS-35 can handle. I am confident that was the problem. MPS-35 was probably minimal for this fridge from the start.

Only issue, the 50 will not fit in the same place that the 35 was mounted.
I had to reroute the wiring and mount on the back of the fridge with some wire ties.
I could have extended the wires on the compressor side and mounted in the cabinet behind the fridge but did not have any extra wire with me at the time.

In the same boat here. Started acting up in high temperatures, with AC only input the MP-35 will work but I have observed the 24dc input to controller slowly drop to below cutoff levels as well on a few occassions. Bypassing supply works great. Also read the Sea Ray thread concerning more power using MPS-50.

My question is on exactly how did you mount the new supply. Any pics? Is the fan blowing on the new MPS-50 supply? Thinking of mounting behind fridge if enough room and flipping fan around to blow through condenser to the rear. Found a MPS-35 but prefer to order the MPS-50.

I did not take any pics.
I wire tied it to the mounting screws of the compressor. It is hanging off the back of the fridge.
My fan is not blowing across it like the old setup. I did open the old one and it is very simple circuitry and there is really no reason for it to be cooled.
Given what I know, I would have taken some extra wire and mounted the inverter in the cabinet.
I have had no problems at all since changing over.
I am sure that is your problem as well.

Thanks for the info. I also opened the MPS-35, no hot spots, I am sure one of the regulators is intermittently failing. Have not put a scope on it or tested on the bench, ordered the MPS-50, should be here tomorrow, hopefully fridge will perform better on extremely hot days. Currently mounting a support bracket/shelf on the back of fridge. Ordered a replacement $10 .24A fan as well, figure since I am replacing it I will turn it around to blow across coils and toward new supply, can't hurt.
