So, I bought a 2002. Trying to get a storage plan for everything..... it's just my wife and I, our daughter is away at college :)

I have searched and seen a good idea for the towels rolled and squeezed between the mid cabin and head wall, just above the "closet", LOL.... what else do you carry and where is it stored? I see the double cabinet (cups plates, micro dishes?)above the counter.... under the cab, next to the frig there is the single door (a pot and pan.) below with the drawer (silver wear and a utensil or 2)...

The open shelves above the v-birth on each side ( temp storage for clothes for the weekend)....

The storage under the seating at the booth (1-life jackets, 2-rolled up camper pieces, the center one ?)

What else am I missing and what works for you?

Thanks in advance!

This is a general idea of what we do. Most of the time its the 2 of us. We are usually out from late Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. Once in a while our son is home and comes along. We are usually on the Mississippi or St. Croix rivers near Minneapolis / St. Paul. Once in a while we trailer to maybe Lake Superior or ???

Bow shelves:
TV, DVD, Movies and music, games, reading material, First Aid kit, flashlights, boat owner's manual(s), food and snacks, paper towel rolls, etc.

Bow under-seat compartment:
rain gear, inflatable floaties, jackets or sweatshirts for cold evenings

Left side under seat:
Towels, maybe a couple extra life jackets

Right side under seat:
Toaster, electric air pump for inflatables and dinghy, garden hose, extra canned food, water, pop, maybe a camp saw and hatchet for camp fire.

Top of galley:
long narrow plastic trays for phone charger cords, extra sunglasses, maybe an extra screwdriver and pliers, extra boat keys, padlocks?,

Upper galley cabinet:
Dry food supplies, groceries, seasonings, coffee and filters for the coffee maker, anything else that will fit.

Cabinet outboard of sink:
glasses, 2 cup measuring pitcher, mixing/serving bowls

Galley drawer:
cooking utensils and knives.

Lower galley cabinet:
Plates standing on edge, plastic box for silverware, hotpads, flat skillet, etc.

Cabinet just aft of steps:
This is mostly filled with the inverter, but has misc. small items.

Cabinet just aft of head:
Other dishes, pots and pans, aluminum foil, paper plates, napkins, zip lock bags, garbage bags, saran wrap, alcohol for an evening beverage.

Aft cabin:
We bought a quilt covered, memory foam queen size mattress pad for more padding in the aft cabin. When the bed is not made, the pad is folded in half and stacked with the mattresses on the starboard side.

Aft cabin foot lockers:
clothes, sheets?

Compartment under aft cabin floor:
Tool bag, camper side panels (rolled up in bed sheets around small noodle, Front, Rear, 2 forward sides, and 2 rear sides). These 4 rolls can go under floor or on bed during day time.

Cockpit:
Under Captain's seats:
3 Life jackets and 1 throwable cushion

Port side compartment:
3 more life jackets, toilet holding tank treatment, spray cleaner, maybe a frisbee or other toys, sponge for cleaning.

Under rear bench:
Magma grill, 2 or 3 fenders, 2 stakes for beaching, 2 boat hooks for docking or going through locks on Mississippi, long handle scrub brush, fishing tackle box, box of docking ropes and cargo straps

Rear compartment:
Honda generator, gas container, small scrub brushes, 2 beaching ropes (50 ft+), shore power cord, bike cable lock for generator to hand rail, coil hose for washdown system.

THANK YOU! this is exacty what I was looking for. So many items i haven't thought about. I was excited about the storage under the Aft bed, until i got to it. There is a white tank under each, I assume its either grey, black or fresh water tanks.....

Thanks Surface!

On the 268 under the aft cabin floor the Black water tank is under the starboard side. The port side is either a Gray water tank or fresh water. What do you have for deck fittings? Are they labeled "water" or "waste"? The fuel tank is in the center under the screwed down panel.

Going from memory, I had 2 on the starboard side near the back marked "waste", on the port side, 1 marked water.....

I think I read something in the owners manual that said you can't have a grey water tank and a generator in a 268, because the water tank mounts where the generator would go....

On 268s without a generator the fresh water tank is in the starboard rear corner and the water heater is near the port rear corner. The optional generator is mounted in the starboard rear corner. When a generator is installed, I believe that they use the port side location under the aft cabin floor for the fresh water tank because there is no room in the engine compartment for the fresh water tank when the generator is installed. This would mean that a boat with a generator could not have a gray water tank.

That's the way I took it too....

I gotta ask, what is the valve marked waste dump in the bottom of the engine bilge.... I am guessing it's from the black water tank? I am guessing it's a dump into a rv type waste station? I noticed 2, the other looks to an intake for the ac/heat.....

The valve and thru-hull fitting labeled "Waste" should be for overboard discharge of black water. This would indicate that you have a macerator to shred the black water contents as it is pumped overboard. Overboard discharge is only allowed more than 3 miles off shore in the Ocean. It is not allowed on inland waters. This site may add some clarification. http://www.boatus.org/guide/environment_7.html If you think you can make it work at a land-based RV dump station you are a more brave man (or more desperate) than I am. 8)

There should be a valve near the right front of the engine labeled "toilet", which is the lake water supply line to the toilet.

If you have the Air Conditioning option you should have a thru-hull fitting and valve for the water supply. The ABYC requires a shutoff on any thru-hull fitting below the waterline.

What options do you have on the boat?

Also, there is a picture posting tutorial in the "Forum Issues" section for when you want to share pictures for entertainment or to seek help on something. Here's the link to the tutorial. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1877

I obviously don't own a 268 but when my cabin fridge died, I was going to replace it but realized that it was a great pantry for all of my dry goods and then some. We belong to a yacht club and eat at the mess so we rarely cook anyway and just don't need a fridge and what we do need kept cold, I keep in the big cooler on the swim platform or in the cockpit freezer. No more clutter in the cabin.

Surface, is this the area I spoke about that I have a tank in each one (grey and black water)

compartment under aft cabin floor
TV, DVD, Movies and music, games, reading material, First Aid kit, flashlights, boat owner's manual(s), food and snacks, paper towel rolls, etc.

We do that in our camper, hadn't thought about it for the boat, just assumed we would use the fridge. Do you travel with your cooler on the swim platform? If so, how is it secured? I have a yeti 50 i am contemplating on where to put

Thank you for the great info!

Yes, we travel with our 94 quart Igloo Marine on the back of the platform all the time and it is secured by nothing more than bungee cords. The only time I have a problem with it sliding around is when it it full. Given the cost of the Yeti, I don't think I would travel with it this way. :)

Chris, it sounds like you have a tank in the port side compartment under the aft cabin floor. Do you have an onboard generator? If so, and the port side tank is gray water, do you know where your fresh water tank is?

OK, so your port side tank is for gray water. Mine only has the one holding tank. The sinks drain overboard.
